I don't think that very many of the recoveries are staged but for off-road products companies, it's an irresistible marketing win for them to go out and have a "breakdown" in Matt's backyard. Huge exposure.
I've been out there a few times in what could be considered our "normal" dry winters, of the last ten years... It was insanely muddy....sticky gumbo mud that fills the treads instantly resulting in near zero uphill traction...Given the rains we've been having, I can't imagine what it is like...
Just received my fronts and checked them, sure enough, they have the wrong upper mounts on them. Thanks again OP for the info, would have sucked big time to discover this after tearing into the install. Fired off an email to King, hopefully they can send me the right ones quickly....(Update...
Thank you for the summary of your install experience, I have a set of these arriving Monday, and it would sure be nice if I could inspect them for the incorrect upper mount condition that you had, before tearing into the install....Can you elaborate on what was wrong, and what to look for...
Side question - Did you break the beads / flip them to the outside of the flange by yourself at home, or did you have a tire shop do that part?
Just got my BL rings and wondering how much of a bear its going to be.
I've installed other beadlock wheels into new tires before, so I know that...
I pulled my Wildtrak stickers/emblems off because frankly, Ford's whole approach/methodology with using these stickers as emblems on the various models looks really like a cheap, low-effort afterthought, on their part....
I bought reproduction first-gen emblems from Tom's Offroad in satin black...
Going with no winch is certainly a choice. But I'm sure he will have a support/filming crew everywhere he goes anyway, so he won't ever need to self-rescue.
22 Here and still waiting...
It updated to Power-Up 3.5.2 back on January 10, and nothing since.
Vehicle is parked nightly where it is connected to my home WiFi and has a strong, high speed signal, with updates scheduled for every day of the week, set for 2AM....
Well, I finally got my ARB compressor installed a couple weeks ago, so I decided to install the G2 DRS (JK) bar on my Wildtrak. It was surprisingly easy to install (given that it wasn't designed for this vehicle, Lol)...and it fits up above my ARB skids. I used a set of Prothane 19-1186-BL 30mm...
Understand what you are saying, but with this installed, The edge of the tailgate support near the hinge becomes the new hinge travel stop, so the gate can no longer open as far as the stock configuration, and this is what prevents accessories (like my jack) from contacting the tail light.
Installed the tailgate support from Bay Area Metal Fabrication the other day. I surveyed every available tailgate support while at SEMA back in November, and in terms of build quality, finish quality, and versatility, the BAMF beats them all, IMHO. I don't yet have larger wheels and tires on my...
Well, we have one of these things sitting here in the shop now. Will start playing around with it on my WT, but have to travel for work the next couple weeks. This should be a good impetus for me to finally install my ARB compressor that has also been sitting here, lol.
Sorry for the delay in responding, have been busy with work (always seems to get in the way, lol)
I can't speak to the sensor hole-plugging thing, for those that do NOT have parking sensors (I DO have the sensors, and they went right in and are secured with little "L" brackets that come in the...
As BlueBronco asked/mentioned, steering any vehicle with the front diff locked can be near impossible at times. I have a 72 blazer (D60 / 40s, etc) and even with hydro assist, when locked it can be impossible to turn, in some situations. I often engage my front locker to get through stuff and...
