  1. Do fog lights need weather protection in the modular bumper?

You are good for weatherproofing as is. Good LED lights have good thermal management as heat is an enemy of an LED. (Maybe this is why heated lens LED lights have crappy warranties?) The bad news is when you need your fogs the most, in a snowstorm, they will ice up and be worthless. Putting...
  2. Does 1" require reprogramming?

Actually a 2 mph difference. I am 99% sure that the digital speedometer is programmed to read 1 mph high over the calculated value. (I checked at a bunch of speeds.) So 70 mph on your speedometer is 69 mph calculated, 70 mph displayed, but 71 mph actual. (EU regulations require the speedometer...
  3. Got the snow melters installed: Hella halogen fog lights wired to Aux 2

Just ordered round amber 500's and M2M bumper mounts. I generally prefer white for fogs, but figuring snow is the only time these will be used, I decided to give amber a try. I really wanted to fill this space with a pair of smiley face daylighters but those would have been no help in the snow.
  4. Just want that bigger tire look...

My Xterra had 265/75-16's, nominal 32's. 32" tires and a rear locker will take you far off-road, even more so with a two-door. MT's are great on the street, great in the wet, and great in the snow. You pay for it a bit in wear. I ended up lifting my four door BD about 1.5" and going to 33's...
  5. Bronco Headlights in Snow

I have never even thought about the Cyber Truck. GTI has LED's and never had the problem. Excuse me for not thinking about the effect of snow and a flat grill until the problem occurred. Next time I'll be sure to commission a CFD model of the front end of any vehicle I am considering purchasing...
  6. Ford Performace tune is a disappointment.

I have a manual transmission so no transmission tuning. The only place it really helped is passing. Before the tune while passing a car going ~55 mph, I would downshift to thirds and run it to about 4500 rpm before shifting to 4th. With the tune, I can get around as quickly just leaving it in...
  7. Bronco Headlights in Snow

Yet the NHTSA was sufficiently worried that someone with a one percentile BMI might have been too inconvenienced to put on their seatbelt and issued a recall (that I am NOT having done.)
  8. Bronco Headlights in Snow

The GTI does. I am guessing they don't ice up because they aren't perfectly vertical like in the Bronco. The stock JK headlights were almost as bad on a clear night as the Bronco's in the snow. The H4 KC's are very good -- not LED good, but they won't ice up either.
  9. Tips for wired CarPlay

After a couple of years of frustration, I have found a reliable method of having my iPhone (iOS 26.1) connect relatively quickly on the first try: Use a quality cable. I have found Amazon Basics and Anker to be reliable. Truck stop specials not so much. Wait for your radio to boot. Unlock your...
  10. Bronco Headlights in Snow

Vehicles I've had that had headlights that didn't ice up in the snow: '88 XJ '96 Explorer Sport '01 Audi A4 '05 Xterra '13 TDI Wagon '17 Golf Alltrack '19 GTI '14 JK (In fairness the stock headlights absolutely sucked but the KC replacement H4's are much better. Maybe should have sprung for...
  11. Bronco Headlights in Snow

A guy on the FJ forum retrofitted headlight washers. He just teed off the windshield washers. This would save finding space for a tank/pump if the Bronco's pump volume is sufficient. The only thing I need to figure out is where to best mount the nozzles. My best guess is somewhere on the black...
  12. Very Clean Midland MXT575 GMRS Radio Install with Mountains2Metal Bracket and 67 Designs Mic Mount

Hex crimper, soldering iron and a PL259 and you are set. As a bonus the antenna cable is really easy to route with the connector cut off.
  13. Bronco Headlights in Snow

That is my plan right now as well. I might even add a windshield washer heater to the circuit. Plan B is a couple halogen fogs and a couple old school halogen daylighters.
  14. Bronco Headlights in Snow

If you could put some heating elements in a piece of acrylic that might work. Even thought about designing some sort of heated headlight washer doohickey.
  15. Capable bumper touch up paint?

I need to try that my next pre-winter session where I touch up all the scrapes and scuffs on the bumpers, rock rails, skid plates and chassis from the season's trail rides. I've been using Rustoleum semi-gloss black which is ok but could be better on the bumpers. I am more concerned about...
  16. Sticky shifting on manual transmission

Your best bet would be to try someone else's manual Bronco. I rate the shifting better than my Wrangler JK but worse than my Mk 7.5 GTI.
  17. Bronco Headlights in Snow

As many have found out, the Bronco headlights become worthless in a snow storm. Sunday morning I was making my weekly Milwaukee-Chicago trip leaving the house around 5:30 in the morning. I was only getting around 20 miles until the headlights became worthless. My led fog and driving lights in...
  18. Manual Owners: Where'd you hide your Midland MXT275/575?

This should help. It is for an FTM-600R dual band radio but the principle is the same. (My GMRS is a Rugged Radios waterproof unit mounted on the passenger side of the console.) https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/sleeker-dual-band-radio-install-uhf-vhf-icom-2730a.99840/post-2325006 As an...
