Unless the factory oil was different weight than what I put in, then no thats not the case. Since the coolant reservoir was at the minimum mark I'm guessing a coolant intrusion issue
Any extreme mods I won't do because of possibly being denied a warranty repair. But in this case I would think it shouldn't be an issue. But going forward I might pay the extra to have the dealer do it just to cover my ass further in case something goes sideways again
I'll reiterate it...someone did already ask, and no there's no good oil in the jug. Its all the old oil at this point. It was roughly 1300 miles before it started giving me faults last week. I'm waiting on pennzoil to get me a certificate of authenticity and other information regarding that...
Definitely looks like boogers lol. Or something out of ghostbusters. The service advisor didn't really say anything, but the manager said maybe coolant intrusion is possible, but it could be anything. They're used to seeing a milkshake with coolant in the oil
So I paid them a visit, and can confirm that the oil is sticky and coolant reservoir is low. I had a chat with the service manager about it. They even showed me the 2 DTCs related to cam timing and the conversation with Ford. Just waiting for a followup from Ford
I didnt notice anything amiss with the oil, and when I do my oil changes the jug either stays in the car or next to my toolbox in the store bag so it doesn't get mixed up
I mainly buy oil that meets or exceeds ford spec to cover my ass in a warranty situation like this. But since it's the same oil I've used for years then I didnt see it being a problem either
This is what I tried to tell them before about a small leak of glycol in the oil like a cracked block. I will check the coolant levels when I go to get my sample and try to talk to the service manager to see what they actually did
Here's an update from the service advisor at D&D:
"Good morning Jimmy. I wanted to let you know that we got a reply back from Ford. They said it had to be the wrong oil. Tech sent them the picture of the oil and specs for recommendations and all to let them know that you got what was...
Or the service advisor doesn't know jack shit, either or both are likely. Which I hate to point that finger at the lady, but I hate being told technical stuff by people who don't or potentially don't know anything about what they're talking about. If they do nothing after ford gives their say...
I questioned them on it from the getgo once they said that. Because even though I did the oil change, I didn't use the wrong stuff to my knowledge. I may not know much about ecoboost engines, but I know how most engines work...we shall see how things look Monday when I go get my oil sample
