  1. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

With a nod to the technology I'm going to miss from the Bronco I'm adding a rear view mirror to the FJ with a rear camera and a front camera and GPS. Anyone who has a big spare on the back or even a medium sized spare in the back knows what it's like to be trying to see what's going on behind...

I'm more from the other side of the tracks... I'm envious of that guy's driveway and garage because his garage door is about four inches taller than mine. I had to air down to even get the monster in my old school garage...

That was the driveway of the guy I bought it from...I think he has a range Rover or Land Rover and a Ford something or other for his wife. I had an LR3, and yes those are a pain in the ass and even at cost parts were stupid expensive. The other car that lives in my garage is a 4Runner and then I...
  4. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

I had an old CJ5 and a CJ7 and an LJ and a JK...and a '69 FJ. The earlier rigs definitely were not very confidence-inspiring on the street, but I'm glad that my newest FJ as features that make it nearly as easy to drive as the Bronco. The steering configuration with the PSC steering box and the...
  5. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

That rig is awesome...and I bet it tows behind an RV like it isn't even there...does it weigh in the mid 2s?
  6. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

Nicely done and it should survive an EMP attack! Does anyone make a hardtop for it? What OD solution did you go with?
  7. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

I love the Willys...is it a Buick motor or AMC or did you go the easy route and get a SBC? What transmission? I think you will prefer the Heritage grille for both appearance and functionality...some of the aftermarket ones are appealing, but the fit is wonky on some and so is the (lack of) air...
  8. Badlands to Heritage Grille Swap -- part number, purchasing, painting, installing

I think red is what you get...perhaps some folks we'll start making cheaper versions in other colors, but the OEM Ford ones for the Heritage are red. Note that the Heritage grill arrives in black primer...it looks like it's painted, but it's definitely primer. I used a couple of key products one...

Ha! Interestingly enough, this one actually DOES take 7...and if anybody's interested I have two collector dipsticks available...the OEM dipstick that led me down the rabbit hole and the short-lived 3.0 dipstick that correctly read the incorrect oil amount. Free! Thanks for the memories...

Not my intent to blow anything out of proportion...just sharing my thoughts. For rack programming, had I have decided to use a donor VIN and install the 3.0 rack, I could have gone the self-FDRS access direction you shared but then the issue would have been that my rack would not have been...

A beast! Like yours, my Bronco did really well off-road...and I was reluctant to make the move to the FJ had it not been for the upgrades that make my FJ drivable at 70 mph on the freeway I wouldn't have. The PSC steering box and the ram assist make one finger driving possible, and the steering...

I think anyone can buy personal user access...but I think Ford can limit access to their employee accounts. Much like my work Microsoft 365 account...when I have it installed on a computer that leaves the building it can be not only monitored but remotely controlled. My neighbor would have been...

Let me know if you need any assistance when you go to install that Road Armor bumper. Did you happen to notice they went on sale around Thanksgiving? They were 40% off I believe or even more...did you also get to swing out tire carrier? If so I definitely recommend replacing the Delrin block...

That would make an awesome dog car! Mine is a tad cramped for my beasts but still better than a regular car...that one looks to be in great shape. Here in California the key is finding something pre-1975...what year is that one? Judging from the mirrors and the door handles it's a later model one?
  15. Sold my Bronco...thanks for all the collective knowledge on this forum!

Love them Ford mills! I suspected one when I noticed the Shelby Cobra steering wheel and was pleasantly surprised...that got me going down the rabbit hole...

Very few disappointments with my Bronco...drove like a dream on the road, was plenty capable off road. If I ever win the lottery I'd probably have another one to mix things up.
  17. Sold my Bronco...thanks for all the collective knowledge on this forum!

I scored it for 44k...on the high side for many FJs, but the prior owner had over 100k in it...so there's that!
  18. Sold my Bronco...thanks for all the collective knowledge on this forum!

I think the 2024 will have the updated/upgraded steering rack? Not sure if that is the case on all the models but I think at least the Badlands gets it hence the increase in price...if so, you should get more peace of mind versus the 2021 I had. Mine never broke, but I was often anticipating it...

Yup...same dealer that lowballed me after giving me an initial solid quote. The tech said they even have to log in many many times throughout the day because their system is set up to kick them out after very short intervals...or is that a thing with the system itself?
