  1. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

Thanks, appreciated. Pump gasoline in the US, unless specifically labeled at ethanol free is E10 (10% ethanol). In most areas ethanol free is quite rare and is provided for things like very old lawn mowers, old cars and boats which may have non ethanol compatible seals/plastics - see my post...
  2. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

Absolutely, ethanol has lower energy density and exhibits worse mpg. But, here is the kicker... It's less expensive and now much less so. That's primarily why I posted. Before the recent price hike in gasoline. My experience showed that my cost per mile (not mpg) was very close to a wash with...
  3. Want to play in the dunes?

Strongly suggest an eventual trip to the famous Glamis Dunes. Get your tires at 12-15 psi and let her rip. It's amazingly fun.
  4. Has anyone installed PowerStop brakes on their Braptor?

My upgrades noted above were very reasonably priced.
  5. Looking For: Bronco Raptor OE Front Coil Springs (SoCal)

Not much help but loosely related. I'm strongly considering replacing my factory front springs to match my rear Hyperco HDs. I can post back if/when I do.
  6. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

For the sake of a balanced view here, I have done some additional research on the topic of ethanol safety in a non Flex Fuel vehicle. This is not my personal experience, but simply the result of research. I certainly welcome any clarifications/corrections/additions. There is no Flex Fuel...
  7. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

E85 Stations App from Play Store.
  8. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

This is highly contrary to the large fleet of E85 Flex Fuel vehicles on the market today. Surely none of them have this problem.
  9. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

I've been pondering that. It would be very easy to add. But for a given octane goal it is always lower cost to blend with a lower octane base. What would be really cool is to input your mpg (or attempt to calculate it) of different blends and optimize for $/mi, not mpg.
  10. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

OK, I have misspoke. The app can not handle race fuels above 99 octane. It needs many non linear lookup curves (not tables, they are actual look up equations). The only real substitution is a simple hand calculation using volume weighted octane blending. This should be reasonably accurate since...
  11. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

Sorry, bad news... This is one of those categorically incorrect calculators. The octane of neat (i.e. pure) EtOH shouldn't be an input in such a calculator/algorithm. It is a known/fixed constant, just like say density, specific heat, freezing point, etc. Even if it is an input, neat does not...
  12. Drivetrain fluid change cost

I would say it's somewhat paranoid to believe no shop but a Ford Dealer can properly drop the pan and filter when changing fluid. The mounting threads are not that delicate. There are aluminum female threads all over the engine and these get wrenched on by hundreds of thousand of mechanics...
  13. California Foutz 1.5" Raptor Rear Spring Spacers

Like new. I'm only selling as my load has gotten high enough to warrant HD springs. These were $280 new (with $30 for shipping... shame on you FMI). Asking $220, free shipping CONTUS.
  14. Long Range Fuel Tank 30 gallons ordered [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Fantastic. I think you will sell a fair number of these. These tanks ability to function as well or nearly as well, in rocks, as compared to a factory skid plate, is really the only risk for the enthusiast crowd who do wheel in the rocks.
  15. Joined the Sag & Tilt Club (and Partially Solved)

I like the rears so much, and can pull the front collars off with the HD fronts, so I'll likely get the fronts. I think my ride was also quite compromised. The rear shocks thought they were always much closer to bottoming, so they very likely ramped up compression damping (continuously) leading...
  16. Joined the Sag & Tilt Club (and Partially Solved)

Do briefly recap for newbies such as me. I know, I know, I could search...
  17. Cross-Country to Baja: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Epic. So great for you and your dogs. And that sun+clouds picture just above 😯.
  18. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

No guarantees. Your 91 is almost certainly 10% EtOH (pretty well a national standard unless specifically labeled as EtOH free). E85, as discussed prior, has a ton of legal variations (very unfortunate). Assuming you're on empty (about 1.5 gal of reserve only) and that your E85 is 78% EtOH, you...
  19. Save on Fuel (and get more power) - How to Properly Blend with Ethanol

False pretenses.... Ethanol simply can not and will not harm your engine. It is good for it in ALL ways (power, cleanliness, temperatures, etc.). The only drawback is mpg, which again is not $/mi! I'll refer you back to post #26 How, possibly does this not sink in? Do you believe there is...
