Yes, those are receiver tubes. One is for a step, I've yet to build. The other side I plan to build a removable rack that can carry gas cans/water jugs.
  2. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

It's between 5-mile and Sunshine Canyon on the west side of hwy 73. They built it this summer, I think around July. It looks like a 2-3 mile track, with jumps, steep sections, speed sections, etc. I've been out that way a couple of times when they were either rolling in or leaving for the...
  3. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

That sounds like a good time. However, I'm going to be out of town that weekend, but would love to connect on any future rides. I live in Eagle Mountain, so 5 Mile is super close for me. Have you seen the new Ford Performance Raptor track they built just past 5-mile?
  4. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

You should go for it! Here's a video of a build series I watched prior to starting my trailer. In it He builds a nice, clean looking, simple trailer. It's where I got a lot of ideas.
  5. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

Yes, it's a tri-fold mattress. It folds out into a bed, or you can fold it up to sit on, or just give extra room for stuff you might want to pack in the trailer
  6. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

When I started researching for the build, I was surprised to find that little trailers like this ranged in price anywhere from 8k to 100k. I would say that comparable trailers to mine were in the 15-25k range. I spent somewhere between 9-10k. So maybe cost about half of what it would to...
  7. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

I haven't weighed it, but I estimate it's between 1600-1800 lbs. I was able to weigh the tongue and its 204lbs.
  8. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

I looked at quite a few online, and then looked at several in person at the rv show. Most seemed to be 5x8 or 5x10 or something close to that. I ended up building just shy of 5’ wide, 10’ long and 4.5’ box height. For length I wanted to be able to have a rear galley, then a main cabin with...
  9. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

I have a total of five boys. Two of them are twins that are 7 years old. They wanted to help, so I had them help me pack the wheel bearing and put the brakes/hubs on the axle. I didn’t want them to get grease all over their cloths so I put garbage bags on them. It was a hoot having them help.
  10. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

Nice work. What did you use for the axle? I used a straight axle rated for 3500 lbs. I ordered it from Southwest Wheel. They’ll build one basically any width you want, which made it easier for me to get the track width I wanted. Also added electric brakes to the axle.
  11. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

I used leaf springs. Since it was my first time building something like this I wanted to stick with something I was familiar with and would be straight forward for me to use. There are some other options out their like Timbren's and even coil overs that look like they'd work well for an...
  12. Off-Road Trailer DIY Build Project Complete

So about a year ago I started an off-road trailer build. I have a 30 ft trailer that we use as a family to go camping, but I wanted something smaller that I could pull with my Bronco and take on more adventurous trips. I like projects and learning to do new things, so I started completely from...
  13. Is Ford Service really this bad?!

My local Ford dealer has been great the couple of times I've needed to take my Bronco in, and I didn't buy the Bronco from them. I always call and schedule an appointment to drop it off, and they've always had it done on time. One of the things I really like is the Service Techs will send text...

  17. Vibration at idle - 500 rpm vs. 600 rpm

I have the 2.3 and it idles at 800 rpm no matter how long it sits at an idle. Smooth as can be. 5-600 rpm at idle seems really low.
  18. Fabtech 1.5” leveling kit - anyone install it?

I used the top spacers from the Rough Country 1" leveling kit. The strut top hat is the same on the rear as the front, so any of the level kit spacers should work.

  20. What are people using for subs that don't take up room ? ? ? ?

I'm trying to remember, but I'm not 100% sure. I think when I took off the the passenger side panel in the cargo area there was a ground strap already bolted in that area and I took the bolt out and added the sub ground there and then put the bolt back in.
