Thanks for the advice and house curve examples. Was able to download some samples off diymobileaudio as well.
Main problem I'm facing right now is that the dash aftermarket coaxial speakers are too bright/harsh while driving. Any suggestions as to which frequencies to cut or how to modify house...
I am considering upgrading to the Musway M5 DSP amp (from Kicker Key 200.4) in my Bronco. Currently have Kicker 2-way speakers all around. Does it make any sense to upgrade fronts to component speakers or will the sound difference be negligible? Thanks!
OK so if you have coaxials all around as well, did you need to rewire for Bi Amp mode on the front speakers and what's the best way to do that. I have plugnplay harness currently--can that be redone? Thanks.
Thanks for the info. So I switched Kicker HPF from 80 to 120 and that helped a lot on the kick speakers to clear up the sound. Problem is now I have very little midrange in most songs because of the new setting. So stuck again.
Current setup is coax speakers in dash and in kick panels. Will...
Ok thanks makes sense--I can try to "fool" the DSP learning this weekend and see what happens. I just don't know what to increase or decrease if the sound appears to be "compressed" especially low and midrange instruments and the vocals are not clear kind of muddy.
Hi All. Recently installed Kicker Key 200.4 along with Alpine dash and Kicker speakers in kick panels and 4" rear pods. I find the sound sort of "compressed" and not very good in the mid bass area with DSP on. DSP off sounds high and tinny but with more distinct and clear vocals and mids. Reran...
Just replaced the 4" rear factory speakers with Kicker 4" (not 6.5") for now. Forscan setting for rear speakers is "tweeter". Should I keep that setting or use maybe "speaker". Anyone done this change yet?
Thanks!
Ok so I ran into a bit of a problem. The cardboard ring represents the 8" Kicker subwoofer. The existing small screw holes in enclosure are from a 6.75" Kicker sub I would like to replace.
Now my enclosure is from a 2025 so may be different but not sure. The left side where most of the cutting...
While taking apart the rear cargo panel to access the subwoofer, I see this white plastic rectangle attached (not my picture but similar). There is a large round magnet on the other side of that white piece that keeps it connected to the metal panel. Fits into a round depression in the metal...
Thanks for the replies. I might just try the 8" while everything is apart. One my main concerns is more vibration or rattles from the enclosure because of the larger subwoofer. Any issues with that?
I have no problems with the 6.75".
Hello. For those who have replaced the 6.75" KIcker with an 8" Kicker was the upgrade worth it? Just installed the 6.75" with Kicker 500.1 amp and it sounds very good but wondering now if 8" is worth it before I reassemble all the trim panels. Thanks !
Ok so I tried the above suggestions but my sub enclosure looks different and there are only 3 holes. I test fit placing the Kicker Key directly on the sub enclosure and I could screw the front two near the subwoofer into the enclosure but the rear two are just air underneath. I also tried to...
Thanks for this. I'm running into the same problem on my 2025 base 2 door after Kicker Key 200.4 install. Seemed a little louder after replacing the speakers but not much. Definitely louder after the amp install--and yes all gains on amp are at minimum as well. Planning to check this out in next...
Hi All. Getting ready to install Kicker Key 500.1 in the rear cargo area existing subwoofer enclosure. Have PnP wiring harness that will send signal from radio all the way back to this amp. What might be the best way to route the power and signal wires?
I was thinking signal down passenger side...
Planning on installing the key 200.4 under steering wheel on that metal plate. Running power wire from unit through firewall to battery. Any good ground spot under the steering column near this mounting location? Thanks!
