  1. What do I have when the diffs aren't locked?

I added "that I am aware of" in a later post. You're right, doesn't look like they have an option for the Advantek axles either way.
  2. 5" inch lift?

Op is LONG gone and we are way off the original conversation, but.... I'm not sure why you think portals are so overly complicated that they're not capable of lasting 200,000 miles. There have been several production vehicles with factory portals, Mercedes-Benz Unimog and G500 4x4^2, Volvo...
  3. Bought base model - need to install hitch - questions

I guess 5/10 successful Starship launches ain't bad... As to saving money, that remains to be seen. SpaceX has $20 billion something in government contracts. The estimated cost of the SLS program through 2028 is somewhere around $40 billion. The difference is WE own it... The big question: Once...
  4. Bought base model - need to install hitch - questions

Bezos rockets don't even really get into space, it's an 11 minute "amusement park ride". Elon doesn't have the discipline to not blow up rockets, too much ego, not enough brains... He's not near the genius he has everyone fooled to believe. His rapid iterative development philosophy really...
  5. I'd like to share my experience regarding delivery by rail (in process) and want to hear your opinions.

Back to the whole issue with our dealership system in this country being dumb AF. Why you can't buy a CUSTOM ordered vehicle directly from Ford and pick it up from the factory is beyond me. If Ford was smart (and stupid dealership laws from 75 years ago weren't still on the books) they would...
  6. Bought base model - need to install hitch - questions

Sorry, I meant Bezos, brain broke for a second. Wrong billionaire who plays with rockets....
  7. Parking garage height - how much does everyone trust the signs?

Ya, I just never push it past the checker at the entrance, why chance it? It's a pain to find other parking, but I'd rather deal with an inconvenience rather than being liable for damages to the parking facility and not get covered by insurance for a new hardtop. Granted, I don't have to park...
  8. Bronco Bilstein Strut Recall-Major Problem if you have already replaced suspension with something else

Another PRIME example why this dumb independent/but-not-really-independent dealership system we have to deal with in the US is so F-n broken. I don't have my stock Bilsteins, they were sold 2.5 years ago. So now I'm gonna have to jump through hoops just to get my dealer to clear the recall...
  9. New Sliders Needed - Project Completed (Checkout the fabrication)

Absolutely recommend the RCI sliders. I trust hitting stuff hard with my sliders more than I trust hitting my bumpers. I have beat on them really hard and they've held up. True no-drill no-weld frame mount (at least the 4 door version was). Made in the USA as well. 2 Door | Rock Sliders |...
  10. One of the best mods I’ve found: Engine Compartment Plug / Firewall Grommet Sealing Plug

Make sure you seal that up with some silicone after you run your wires. I cut my factory grommet kinda like that and it leaked water when driving through heavier rain.
  11. Bought base model - need to install hitch - questions

SO ya, OEM is going to be expensive, plus the cost of having it reprogrammed, you're looking $600+. Lots of good cheap aftermarket options, you could be easily under $100... A harness like below is cheap and is plug and play, a little disassembly to get the tail lights out for install but...
  12. What do I have when the diffs aren't locked?

Toyota made a BIG mistake when they didn't go to removable doors/top, non-integrated bumper, rig like the Bronco and Wrangler. How they didn't act when the saw the popularity of the Bronco is beyond me. The new Land Cruiser could have been epic, instead it's basically a re-skinned 4-Runner...
  13. 5" inch lift?

Lets see some pics of you putting that snorkel to good use! Tell you what, I'll post a water crossing pic first.
  14. 5" inch lift?

You didn't read the whole thread. The context was other than cost. Yes portals are very expensive, yes they require more maintenance, but they are a superior option. Dude I originally responded to said he would rather have a drop bracket lift vs portals, given that you have the money to have...
  15. What do I have when the diffs aren't locked?

A Torsen isn't a standard limited slip, no clutches, and given it's only used in the high end stuff, (Boss 302, SVT Raptor, ect) it's probably rather expensive. It seems to be more of a Detroit Locker type carrier vs a standard limited slip. What I was saying about an e-locker and a limited...
  16. 5" inch lift?

LMFAO, got you. And yes, that is an amazing diagram. It was nice to at least have 3wd, even having to tow an anchor. When I broke and lost the tone ring, no 4x4 at all, no lockers. I was about 50 yards from the main trial but the trail I was on, called "Rocker Knocker", has a car-sized boulder...
  17. 5" inch lift?

Ya, who knows what kind of logic Ford has programmed for the rear wheel sensors. I imagine the same thing would happen if you broke a factory rear shaft. I can report, the front does fair better. When I broke a CV, I was able to put the broken stub back in the wheel bearing, pull the center...
  18. 5" inch lift?

And I can apricate that. In my defense on all of this, I was just sharing an opinion from the information I had seen. I hadn't seen all the stuff on your post about the leaks and all of that. Yall jumped on my about the "race proven" comment and I, of course, got defensive. That being said, I...
  19. 5" inch lift?

Nope, I didn't say that at all, I never said that portals are better than IFS long arm. I was just using that as an example of part of why I think you have a problem with them. If Quinn said that to me, I'm sure he's said it everywhere.
  20. 5" inch lift?

I never claimed to have first hand experience with their portals, so lets clear that up. You do, which instead condescendingly saying "I'm ready to learn", you could have said that from the start. SO let's get the d**k measuring out of the way, I am an engineer and I've designed custom gearing...
