I’m lifted with 37s. I have a 6X6 block on top of my floor jack and prefer not dragging four 5 ton stands out unless I really need to. Cordless impact with a torque wrench. Can do it pretty quick but I’m usually not in a hurry and not watching the clock.
I've owned a 70, 71, and 85 Blazer. Of course I'll take a look. I'm sure to be disappointed.
The 4.3L Vortec is probably a better engine than any of those came with, even though it's not a V8. The 350s in my K5s weren't exactly HO.
Even with the bigger doors on the 2 door I don't have a problem, but maybe it's an arm strength issue. I just stand on the inside of the door, look down and set both hinges onto the pins. It's pretty easy for me. Are you standing on the outside of the door where you can't see the hinges?
I think you're on to something there. I never considered how much more walking folks with moredoors have to do to rotate their tires. I'm surprised any of them do it themselves unless they're marathon runners.
I only go to each tire once and I wouldn't even think of lifting my floor jack. That's why it has wheels.
But if your way makes sense to you, keep at it. It's your time.
It does look cool on jackstands in the parking lot, so that's something.
Did you have to lug those stands out there and put...
Well, I take the spare off and do one wheel at a time. Sure as heck a lot faster than jacking up one wheel at a time, placing each on jack stands, rotating tires, then jacking each up again to remove the stands. I just don't have that much time to waste. Unless I needed to kill time, which I...
The beauty of the 5 tire rotation is you don't need to use jack stands, unless you just want to stretch out the job so you don't have to do something else.
Taking my '21 in next week for the TSB 21-2262 as I started throwing a P0304 code.
I'll see what they have to say about the 3 or 4 recalls mine has on it. This will be the first time it's been to the dealership in 4+ years.
I only buy new wheels if there is a reason, such as not holding air or changing backspace/width to fit different size tires. To me money on wheels for looks is wasted money as I just need them to be the correct size, round, and hold air.
That said, my vote is just buy tires.
The older I get, the less I want to do the physical work on my vehicles. Stuff like this keeps me at it.
As far as not getting the tires you wanted, you have to make sure they order what you want. I tell the shop the sku# and verify that is the one they ordered. Many times they have no idea...
