I had a set of duratracs on my JKU Wrangler. They were absolutely unbearable at 20k miles. They sounded atrocious. Just a straight garbage tire. I hated them. My BFG KM2s were much more capable and quieter.
The original list was pretty damn solid. My biggest issue with my bronco is the windows not indexing on open and close. Second is some of the cheap corner cutting on the interior with the plastics and lack of ac vents.
Mechanically I am pretty happy with it.
Seems like this is so simple to fix:
Index them down 1/4" when your turn the truck off, you unlock with keyfob, or you put your hand under the handle with keyless entry.
Index them back up 1/4" once the door shuts or transmission is taken out of P.
I’m not sure I am. I own both and think both have pros and cons. I think Ford overall did a good job with the design, but had some misses with it too. I also think there are some quality issues. I’ve owned around 12 new cars(7 of them Ford’s) and this bronco has had more little warranty issues...
Yes, if you read the report they consistently rate them lower because of they aren’t as highway friendly as others. They will compare a wrangler to a Honda Pilot and say the pilot is better for the average consumer(which is totally true).
With a name like Hemi-sphere I detect more bias than you admit!
And I’m not aware of any recalls. It’s been to the shop 3x, each for a complimentary oil change. They do check for and install computer updates as part of that, but that’s it that I am aware of.
I guess you got a lemon. It happens. My 21 4xe has been totally flawless. Tranny is smooth. About the only complaint i have is the turbo 4 is pretty loud when it does kick on. That being said the turbo 6 in the bronco is always loud, you just get used to it.
You obviously have a bias. I get it, you want to justify your purchase. I have both, and I can be honest about them.
Interior - The materials in my Rubicon's interior are much nicer looking and more durable. The plastics in my Bronco look like they have been through a war already...
A) Consumer Reports hates Jeep. They consistently rate them terribly.
B) The Rubicon has been better built and higher quality by far. Here is my Pro/Con Sheet
22 Bronco
+ Bigger and Roomier
+ Better steering
+ Larger Infotainment screen
+ 35s stock!
+ 360 camera
+ Much larger cargo access...
I think the owners manual specifically states that any oil additives not from Ford will void your warranty. I"d think even at a best case that stuff won't do anything.
Why do you say the engine is unrefined? Mine is loud at first crank and for about 30 seconds until it idles down. I am not...
I have a 22 Wildtrak. Like others have said, HOSS 3.0 was introduced about mid-model year. Other than that, Mod bumper, lux, hard top, leather and tow are the primary options to look for.
I like the idea of a Lightning. The price is far too high for me though, and I do not even qualify for the tax credit that helps it out. Drop it by 25% and we will talk.
The interior on these things look like crap to me. I see multiple shades of black, bright red, yellow, white, multiple shades of brown, pewter and silver. No cohesiveness. It just looks like it was thrown together out of spare parts from the bin.
Yeah, that's right. Extended warranties are best though of as insurance. I do think, the insurance is extremely reasonably priced if you:
1. Buy Ford ESP from a low cost reseller like Granger/Flood Ford
2. Buy the coverage in one of the pricing sweet spots
3. Keep the vehicle long enough to...
I’ve yet to lose money on an extended warranty if you keep it and drive it for the period. My wife’s old explorer had the AC Compressor fail with 100 miles left on the warranty, which cost about what I paid for the warranty. That was the closest I’ve have come to losing money!
Interesting that the MIC top is apparently good enough that he has not felt like changing over to the ADV top. For the cost, I'd expect it to be head and shoulders better than the MIC in every way.
