Thanks Heli. I’ll def use that sheathing. How about the double studs as well and/or 12 inch off center vs 16 along with the sheathing?
After I sheath that whole side where the
Winch will be and then drywall it do I still mount the winch to a 2x6 ontop of the drywall?
1) garage already has joists supporting a 10ft ceiling. Previous owner installed 2nd set of joists below to lower to 8ft and allow for storage. I’d just be removing the lower set of studs at 8ft and building a frame/box up to the higher joists in the section of the garage where the hard top...
I’m currently planning some garage ceiling height modifications in order to support the new Lange electric hoist that I just purchased. I’ll be moving from 8ft ceilings to 10ft so that I can pull in and park fully under the top.
What I’m planning to do is in the area above the bronco top...
Hamburger. I’ll be wall mounting it and modifying my garage to 10ft ceilings. Do you have any links on how I should setup the studs to withstand the lateral force?
I’ll be wall mounting:
1) where did you get the 2nd pulley which I’ll need?
2) how far back can the winch sit from the pulleys and still be able to lower all the way? My winch is planned at about 3–4 feet on the wall behind pulley #1
3) does your top sit total level when raised for your...
You are right to be cautious. I am too. Overly so. Massive OCD so I think through a lot and would be horrible if top seperated. . I understand your concern but I’m not sure the physics support it..I could be wrong..
It seems it wouldn’t matter how much points you lifted from. Once hanging...
Heli yours looks very level. Wondering if you me have the same results if instead of backing up to remove top you had the winch on the opposite side wall so you could drive in straight
What difference would it make if you listed from the rack points or used the straps going underneath and around solution?!
Either way you have a lift force only on the top shell and the legs are unsupported and are subject to your concern.
Was interested in purchasing the hoist for a 2-Door. I read a bunch of posts they there were modified parts needed because the top would not lift level. That’s a deal breaker for me as I’ll barely be able to park under the top of its level.
Any other issues? I don’t care about the 4-door...
How does the smarter home frame mount to the 2 door top? Does it use straps?
If yes, does the strap cause issues with the back window seal? Cannot tell how this mounts…
It’s not the weight and I think you aren’t getting that it needs to go through two door ways 32x80 inches tall. So trying to figure out how and which direction to lift without hitting top of door frame or breaking the top is the fuss
