Just some of my thoughts (for my own internal debate)...
- It's not a practical car. It just isn't. You can do practical things with it, but that's not why we are looking at it. So I just need to come to terms with that. It's like buying a truck and a boat at the same time.
- As for long term...
1. Most of the vehicles out there are Jeeps.
2. People get stuck doing these things every single day (hence their reputation).
So, you are going to see Jeeps get in a less than ideal spot from time to time. Doesn’t mean the vehicle can’t do it, just means the driver couldn’t do it in that...
Looks like tire smoke as the Jeep tries to claw itself out using the Bronco as an anchor. Looks like he somehow got off line (slipped maybe). You can see his right track is center of the line he's supposed to be on. Stuff happens. Glad the Bronco made it up ahead of him and could give him a...
We are reading too much into *everything* right now. :sneaky: But I actually see @fronc and @Squatch's point: the FE was supposed to come with the Sasquatch package as standard equipment (like the Wildtrak). This seems to imply it does not.
I will absolutely be hitting the trails in my Bronco. And I may miss the crawl gear the 10-20 days a year I am doing serious crawling. But I will appreciate the 10 speed auto and 2.7 every other day.
(P.S. my 6 speed auto Jeep has done fine everywhere it's ever been, so...)
Full disclosure: I haven't bought one before. However, while researching and talking to friends, you absolutely negotiate. There seems to be a fair amount of room for discussion. 10-20% seems to be normal based on initial price and market demand.
Those article are all August 2019. The Autowise article is October 2019. So, either Autowise is clueless or the GM execs can't make up their mind. Either way, GM hasn't had the best track record lately (aside from possibly Cadillac), so I'm not holding my breath.
Someone a block away from me has an Opus 4. The other night, as my wife and I were walking the dog, we walked by and she casually says to me, “so... you gonna get one of those to go with your new Bronco?” I *immediately* found the Opus Lite. I’m sold!
I will, but not right away. Ordering a BadSquatch. I’ll run those for a bit, then decide on lift needs (likely Icon) and then new shoes (definitely BFG 35 or 37 on Method probably).
Like a Tesla store. They have every material and color for exterior and interior. You can see it, touch it, take it outside. It’s incredibly simple and incredibly useful.
EDIT: photo for reference.
Cactus Gray has looked verything from gray with a hint of green to a pale retro mint to almost white to almost sky blue. All depending on the light, camera and image processing. Luckily, I like it in pretty much every variation.
When I bought my 10th Anniversary Rubicon, the had a special Anvil...
I live in Northern CA/Silicon Valley - which conjures images for most - but it’s almost dead in the middle of Yosemite, Tahoe, the Rubicon, Muir Woods, Napa, the Santa Cruz mountains and Monterrey. So it’s probably headed to Yosemite or Tahoe right away (find out what it can do, then plan...
I think a few of the replies nailed Different part of the issue.
- First, the tailgate is reinforced. A 37” tire and wheel are ~100 lbs of weight dangling back there that will have to handle drops and impacts on the trail.
- Second, off road the vehicle is going to twist and flex a lot. With...
