Got stuck in some water the other day. Looking for input on what to keep an eye on/change.

My 2.7 Sasquatch bronco seem to only have one breather sitting loosely by the firewall. Is that second one suppose to be for both the auto transmission and transfer case? Anyone else have just one breather?

That's the front diff vent. The transmission and t-case are farther left, basically on top of the transmission bellhousing.

@Ducati1098 , are those tubes supposed to have caps on them? My Bronco just came back from dealer for trans & t-case replacement and the tubes candy cane at the end but look like open tube ends.

They will not have caps on them. They are designed to "breathe".

I was thinking caps that could breathe but keep water splashes out. Google AI is convinced I’m missing something. Figured I’d go to the pro.

Also they forgot to clamp my transfer case hose on the barb: hose is on but clamp is 3 or 4 inches up the tube. I can’t reach it on my back so I’m headed back to the dealer in rhe AM. I think I would need a borescope to check if the transmission one is clamped. Hopefully they will be able to verify when it goes back.

The last dealer who did the original transfer case replacement didn’t even put the tube on the barb. I made them replace the fluid for free because it had been months and started dripping down a wiring harness.

AI is failing you. The "candy cane" neck prevents water splashing down the tubes.

And while we are discussing the breather tubes, the Everglades was promoted as having a deeper fording depth, but every Bronco has the same breather tubes. The only advantage to be gained is the air intake/snorkel.

Also, gotta give the tech credit for finding a crack and leak in my passenger side turbo oil return tube that I didn’t know about. They replaced it and confirmed no more leak. I never saw drips or anything. They smelled some burnt oil on the final test drive and investigated.

So far, the new trans is running smooth after a 50 minute drive. No hard shifts and seems generally smoother than the old trans was lately.

Maybe the advertised Everglades claims are real.

I agree with you, the intake is the big plus with the Everglades. It has made life more comfortable for me when entering water as I know I’m not directly gulping in water when my hood takes a dip under water for a few seconds.
