Related/unrelated question. For those that installed a tonneau cover or similar- did you happen to notice if it helped keep your mpg similar to when the top is on?
I love driving with the top off - but do notice a 2 mpg drop with the roof off.

How does the slipstream handle the occasional weather? Is it sloped at all so it doesn't drain water down the back seats? I have a tonneau right now that I can velcro high on the back seats to make the whole thing slope off over the tailgate for those times I hit unexpected rain.

A Pelican Cargo case BX135 fits well in the back, it has lockable hasps and I suppose I could cable loop the whole box to something back there. Not theft proof by any means, but might deter an impulse grab.

Agreed, the BX series is really good. I don't use it in the cargo area, but on top of my roof rack. Again, not theft proof but deters the impulse grabs.

Cases are pricey though.

It's a flat lid enclosure. There are foam rubber seals along the top and where the top connects to the front wall. There's a hard metal reinforced u-seal that runs along the back top edge against the tail gate. It's not meant to be weather proof but with that said it will keep most of a light rain off of what you have in the cargo area.

The slipstream does a superb job when there is no choice about having things in the back such as a road trip.

Slipstream's clearly the consensus here. For me the box was more than I needed — I wanted something that packs down when I'm hauling something tall, so I went the cover route instead. Stays put at highway speed topless. @FM922 — I still lose about 2 mpg with the top off either way, cover didn't change that.

Putting the the front panels back on after removing the rear shell mitigates my mpg loss vs going completely naked. And the shade is nice. This is with doors also removed.

That tracks — front panels on, rear shell off is the sweet spot. Gets most of the mpg back and the shade over your head in a Texas August is worth more than the 2 mpg anyway.
