Armorlite Floor Drain Plug Issue

So I installed my Armorlite floor this last weekend, and everything went great. Wasn't too hard to install, everything lined up perfectly.

When installing the drain plugs, I lined up the tab and pressed them into place. The body of the plug snapped right into place and is firmly secure. However, the cap of the plug will NOT stay shut. I press it down into the body and it complies, then after about 5 seconds it pops open on its own. If I do manage to get one to stay shut, as soon as I get on the road it pops back open.

Anybody else experience this/have a fix? I would hate to think that I dropped $700 and permanently modified my bronco just to have holes in the cabin that I can't shut... Terrible for road noise and obviously water/mud intrusion into the cabin while offroad.

I had one that did that originally in the back seat, but it settled down after a while. Was like the captive strap was stiff and pulling the plug back out. No issues with it now though.

I agree that the captive strap does seem to be contributing. Not sure if just trying to work it back and forth would increase pliability.

I have seen where a customer was resting their foot on the plug, this caused it to be pushed down further causing the flange of the plug to be somewhat concaved, this can apply pressure to the edge of the plug lid.
I am not suggesting you are resting your foot on it, but possibly the plug is pushed down to the same point, try removing the plug and reinstalling engaging fewer of the ribs into the sheet metal helping keep the flange flatter.

I have seen where a customer was resting their foot on the plug, this caused it to be pushed down further causing the flange of the plug to be somewhat concaved, this can apply pressure to the edge of the plug lid.

I'll try looking at this later today. From what i remember this does kindof describe the issue, seems like the cap had to sit way down inside where it wanted to pop up.

That’s what I was thinking. Soften it a bit and press it in to cool.

One of mine would not stay closed, I figured out I had it inserted too far into the hole.
