First coat of MAXL ONE (all-in-one waterless wash, polish, ceramic-style protective spray) on 60th Anniversary Bronco

Be happy you didn’t order them. First off the ‘drill-less’ fit claim is a total lie. You need to drill to fit. Frankly it is bizarre that they claim that. And the front set that I received look like they were made for a totally different vehicle - just don’t fit.

get IAG flaps - they are great.

Unfortunately, I did. Four holes lined up correctly and it actually looked correct. My first clue was when I had leftover hardware. Not typical with the weather tech stuff. I’ve used them many times before. Got them installed, tossed all the packaging and threw the extra nuts, bolts, washers into my miscellaneous hardware jar. It wasn’t until I took a closer look at the fit/finish where the back of the flap meets the front of the running board. Not even close to my expectations.

Anyway, I’ve removed them. Everything back to stock and I’m $100 lighter. Lesson learned.

On to another topic. I found out (the hard way) that Weathertech does not make mud flaps for this particular vehicle. I'd like to think I did everything I could BEFORE I ordered them. I reached out to customer service as their website makes no reference that I could find to "60th Anniversary Edition". I'm fairly sure I was communicating with a chat bot. Either that or an extremely useless representative. The reply to my inquiry basically said enter your vehicle information and "drill down" to what you need. A follow up e-mail to them pointed me to the disclaimer that the flaps will not fit the Heritage Edition. I was not aware that the 60th Anniversary Edition was a Heritage Edition.

After a little more research, I've found that Mabett makes a set that is the "best bet" for this vehicle. The install is a bit more complicated and I'm not sure I want to dive that deep into the project.

End of rant. Thanks to everyone for the feedback and kind words.

Interesting how WeatherTech did a sub-par poor job on the Bronco flaps and did a super shape and fit for the BRaptor fender Flairs.

Their flaps for the BRaptor are excellent in fit and coverage. But looking at the Bronco flaps, they’re poor looking & fit.

Your Bronco looks great, and I'm happy when anyone discovers a wash routine that works for them. For anyone not familiar with these sorts of products, I'll add that in the detailing community products like Maxlone and F11 are considered to be mostly overpriced marketing hype, even if they do work pretty well. I see Maxlone's gallon kit is "on sale" now for $240. I've used the Aero Cosmetics Wash All product for 10 year, and it's about $40 bucks for a similar kit. It has no ceramic (SiO2) content, but there are similar products from Griots, Turtlewax, Optimum, Ethos, etc. that do are still significantly less expensive.

I'd agree, if using as a soap & wash, these aren't good choice. Your Aero Wash looks like a great product & price for wash. For an alternative to ceramic, the Triphene coating is an easy application to achieve a glossy hydrophobic surface. The MaxlOne is intended as a "dry wash", spray on and wipe off. For those that like a dry wash/no rinse... it's one of many, but to contain a triphene coating it's one of few. I personally don't like a dry wash, no matter how light the dust... it's grit on surface in my opinion.

I personally don't use the MaxlOne, although the MaxEasy which is just a Triphene coating is more acceptable to my wash & polish methodology. Its gallon price is $140, which for a glossy, hydrophobic coating that endures a several months isn't bad... it's not cheap but reasonalble.

If those using MaxlOne after a through wash & dry... you're wasting money. The MaxEasy would be your preferred product from this Company if not dry washing.

For wash... foam cannon top choice. One foam application & rinse removes bulk of surface dirt, 2nd Foam and sponge follow up completes the surface clean. Any good foam soap works, my favorite is "Pan the Organizer" Clean Soap. Works great with harder non-softened water, rinses complete and easy to avoid water spots.

For clarification: Triphene is actually hybrid mix: blend of ceramics, graphene, and fluoropolymers.

Aero Cosmetics is good stuff. Use it on my Corvette, as well

Generally speaking, almost all of those "miracle" type easy on waxes/coatings etc. underperform and are overpriced. Nothing beats good old elbow grease and hard work to make your ride stand out and be protected from the elements. Just my opinion.....

It’s a lot of work for an old, fat guy but I got the first coat of MAXLONE applied. I really like their product.

Coat #2 is complete. As someone else mentioned, the first coat is the hardest. The second coat took about an hour and it looks amazing IMHO.

Also, I’ve been in contact with Weathertech. They’ve forwarded my issue to their R & D team. I was actually a little surprised to hear back from them. I had to make one very minor modification to my front flaps. I re-installed them today and satisfied with the results. I’m not 100% sure but I think the 2025 rear flaps will work on my vehicle. I rolled the dice and ordered a pair. I’ll let you know.
