As the title implies I am wanting to eventually upgrade to some bigger tires on my '25 Base. Originally, I wanted to go 33's (285/75r16) but learned that the base rims are a little too narrow to hold the 285's. Although I have seen folks run that and haven't seen any reported issues... After doing some digging I saw skinny 33's (255/85r16) and since they are the same width should fit the base rims. Right now I'm leaning towards the 32's since this is my daily and I only do minor off-roading trails however the skinny 33's look really cool and fill the wheel well up nicely.

For those that have run skinny 33's, how do you like them as far as daily driving? Also what is your personal favorite skinny 33? I see Wildpeak A/T4 have great reviews but they are pretty heavy. What is the hit to gas mileage like? Pictures would be nice as well if you have them!

P.S I tied to find other threads on skinny 33's but couldn't find answers to my questions...
Where are you located? I have a set of 5 carbonized gray oem wheels from my big bend, pretty sure I still have TPMS too. I had 285/70r17 which are 33’s basically on them before I upgraded. I’m in Texas, would make you a hell of a deal if you were interested.

I'm in Kentucky but since I am about to throw on some new tires I'm fine for right now! There may be someone else in this thread interested maybe though.

Dang that's super impressive. I thought about going with some Grabbers as well. Pizza cutters on the steelies will look sick.

Random side note how has your rig held up over that 100k miles? What major repairs, if any, have you had to do?
Yea I thought it was crazy that the Grabbers lasted this long. I will probably replace them next summer. I'd like to get some coil-overs to smooth out the ride. Stock suspension is brutal on off-road trails.

2022 Black Diamond 7mt 2.3l 2-door. I do oil changes and 5-tire rotations every 5k. At 90k I had all the fluids replaced (coolant, front/rear diffs, transfer case), plugs. 2nd windshield replacement tomorrow.

The only issue (major) was having the manual transmission replaced at 37k, because of the "rock tumbler/scraping" noise. The new 7mt had a very slight noise but I've lived with it for 50k.

Other than that it's held up great. Been cross country a few times, once pulling a 1200lb trailer. I don't rock crawl or desert run, but did do some off-road trails in Utah last year. Leaving next week for a couple week trip to Montana, then maybe some of the BDR in northern Nevada. I try to disburse camp as much as possible so I'll see some forest roads. I love it, it's been a lot of fun. I'm hoping to get at least another 100k out of her.

Edit: The Bronco is my daily driver.

Have you found skinny 33s in a suitable load range for a Bronco? I use 255/85R16 on my F250 but I haven't seen them in lighter load ranges, I haven't looked very hard.

These tires (Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 315/70R15) will be installed later this month. I didn't want to go to a 0 or negative offset because of the effect on bearings over time.
I am surprised that 15 inch wheels work on a 6G Bronco. I thought 16 inch was the minimum to clear the brake calipers.

For sure. I almost did that but love the look of the stock steelies so decided against it. Maybe in the future I'll swap to a 17" wheel. I think those look good on the Bronco as well.
You might like the black diamond steelies. they're 17", but black instead of silver. Might be worth looking for take offs if you might like black steelies.

The black diamond steelies do look really nice. I think I like the base steelies slightly more but in the future might get a set of black diamond steelies and coat them silver or something to get a 17ā€ rim.

I love skinny 33s. So much that's what I put on before delivery. Then I went to skinny 35s. Loved them even more. Then skinny 37s. I'm not even searching for skinny 40s. Yet.

Might as well start putting some ferris wheels on that thing!

Put this in the other thread but figured I’d throw the full story here… Got these tires from the giveaway in yesterday and had them installed! I must be on a luck streak with God because the manager at Tire Discounters decided to do the full install for free as well! 😭 So not only did I get free tires but also a free install and alignment.

The tires look great and ride great as well. Can’t wait to get them on some trails!
