Probably your offset unless you got custom rims to go with.

Stock non-SAS offset is +55 and can rub a good bit like this without a spacer to push the wheel out a little bit.

SAS wheels sits about 1” further out on +33. Most folks will either:
Trim the liners or get creative with zipties
Small (3/4” to 1”) body lift or 1.5” to 2” tophat lift
Get a 1” to 1.5” wheel spacer
Get new rims (usually +18 to 0 offset)
Get SAS takeoffs for cheap
Yup. And there are many of us non-sasquatch Bronco owners who have bought those 17x8, +55offset Badlands wheels from non-sasquatch Badlands owners, to upgrade our 32" OBX wheels to 33" wheels. I've been running a set for over 3 years now without modification, they fit fine for beach driving. The guy I bought from went to a lower offset, about +25.

I would at least do a 1” spacer lift or 3/4” body lift on a non Sasquatch badlands to run 35”s…
Can just done a 1” front end level, change the offset, and remove crash bars. The cheapest way is to buy takeoffs and sell your 33s for about $1000-1500 less.

Another option is to buy 35s with 11.5” width, remove crash bars and skip the level. Shouldn’t get rubbing with a thinner tire.

The internals on Bilsteins on the non-SAS BL are just a bit different than the SAS ones - and that accounts for the 0.5" difference. Different bump stop location, maybe different spring, etc. They both look the same though from the outside.

non-SAS BL have a touch more travel as a result, but less lift.
Well it would have to have a different spring because there’s nothing a strut can do to add height.

My question is what’s different about the non sas Bilsteins compared to sas Bilsteins? Are they literally the same strut and shock bodies making it possible to install an aftermarket sas lift kit on the non sas Bilsteins?

I bought a non-SAS Badlands (7MT) because they wanted $6,000 for slightly different shocks and crappy, noisy MT tires, hah, and some slightly different body pieces (flairs, SAS flap thingy, etc.).

I learned after that only the manual version comes with 4.7s so all good. Apparently Ford just likes to pad their numbers on 7MT + SAS.

I also knew that the stock Badlands would be more than enough for my skill level, and if I ever go really into higher technical stuff I'd be dumping money into more lift and the tires I wanted anyway so it's all good. I have a tentative plan for a 2" lift and 35s some day -- if I get to the point I actually need more lift and bigger tires for what I want to do.

While it wouldn't surprise me that a Sas and Non-Sas Badlands would use a different spring, merely making the lower spring perch higher would increase lift (think Bilstein 6100 struts with the different notches). They say the Sas Badlands has less wheel travel than the non-Sas version so its possible that there is just more pre-load on the spring to make up the increase in lift, while leaving everything else substantially identical.

Also - all Wildtraks and Heritage are SAS, even if they don't explicitly say it.
All we get on HE is this little sticker on one side. Everyone who has noticed it and said something just assumed that I put it on myself because I’m a bigfoot fan.

Au Contrera sp?? Actually, you need a higher skill level to get there with less lift and a smaller tire, so good on you! Imagine a rig with 12 foot tires, it could go anywhere with no skill at all. You wiull become a steely eyed four wheel driver with those 33's.

Oh, and I sense another opportunity to post Pritchet Canyon on 28s

What a tangled web ford weaves.
Id just like to know if the shocks are the same so that a sas lift will work on it.
