How long does the leather smell last? (new car scent)

Lasted until I had to load up 2 wet/muddy dogs in the back, so about a week.
Good news is with the lack of carpeted flooring or cloth seats, the wet dog smell was gone in the time it took to watch a couple episodes of Star Trek. Just had to open the windows and let it air out.

I’ve noticed the smell sticks around longer if the cabin stays shaded and you keep the interior clean. Heat and sun seem to make the scent fade way faster.

The leather scent in new cars is synthetic to replicate the old style of treating leather now it's all bonded.

I bought a leather scent spray on rag and tossed under seat to keep the old fashioned leather smell in Mustang.

Now my Bronco smells like 3n1 oil after the aerosol totally discharged in it's nylon bag....

No idea. My Bronco stinks. Steering wheel and maybe the shift boot don’t contain enough leather to make it smell better.

"New car smell" is a scent added to new cars. There was a period I think in the early 90's when cars no longer had the "smell" naturally from leather and curing plastics (the "leather" isn't the same and advancements in plastics curbed the smell) and it became a problem, so car manufacturers devised scents they could add to make the car smell desirable when new.

This is primarily why you can't just buy it, it's part of the new car experience. (I guess you can call the dealership and see if they sell it.) Of course German luxury cars would work to make the scent last as long as possible, because of course. There's probably little reservoirs of it hidden here or there.
