Man it’s to early for me to be posting 😂
Paint correction is taking out defects in a cars paint. Say you went through a non contactless car wash. You more than likely will have scratches and swirls and maybe holograms. What I’m asking is how easy is it to correct, or get those defects out. I’ll attach some before and after shots of a car I corrected a few weeks back. (The after pictures were taken outside of the shop)((also watch the video first for a better understanding of paint defects))

That Benz is one example why I appreciate the back to the basics looks of the Bronco. To me it screams contrived -- IDN I guess some like it so many cars look like this.

Just under 100k for that. It has AMG badging but isn’t that quick, it’s ugly as sin, and you can’t do nearly as much as a bronco in that Benz. Im right there with you my man, I’d take a bronco over that any day of the week.
Forgot to mention that it is a used car as well.

It corrects fine, it’s pretty thin and soft so dont need to use anything huge. Ford used to have good paint but now it’s extremely comparable to my Toyota in terms of thickness and softness. Think I measured ~4.3-4.7mil with certain parts being a little thicker.

don’t see it lasting more than 10 years, half that if you’re polishing more than once a year or keep it outside

I will say tho, my paint was pretty near perfect on delivery. No overspray, orange peel etc and I had the dealership leave it dirty not even ripping off any plastic so I didn’t even have swirl marks. The one Bronco I did get with swirls, the dealership had “detailed” when I asked them not to.

I've done a full correction on mine since it came home, and Ford quality of their paint leaves a lot to be desired. There was overspray literally everywhere, other spots where they clearly did a bit of a bad blend on a defect that was found at the factory, and when I went through to measure depths to know how much I had to work with, it's about 4mils across the whole vehicle.

four.

my 2010 vw has had 2-3 decent corrections over the years and still sits around 8-10mil across most spots.

Polishing was pretty easy though, and once you destroy 2-3 hunks of clay dealing with the overspray, VB looks downright stellar when it's all done up. I'm also wondering if the aluminum body panels play into things with regards to how things heat up during polishing vs steel panels. Time will tell I guess.

Eek, I’ll have to measure the thickness IF I EVER GET MY BRONCO lol. But to tell you the truth I’m happy you for the info you’ve given me. I’m hopeful I can correct it once then ceramic coat it and just be done with it for the next few years.

I know this is off topic but I was disappointed in the paint job. Like the above said overspray in many places and blob defects in many places but mostly towards the bottoms and not noticeable. But the worst one was on the corner of the hood visible to the eye when the sun is out looked like a clump of tiny BB’s. It’s at the dealership supposedly getting fixed. Along with some other issues, droopy headliner and scrapped fender damage.

The dealership will more than likely out-source the paint defect to somebody else if they don’t have their own body shop. Most dealerships don’t have a recon department set up for correcting to that extent. The really don’t have the skill level either for that kind of work.

When mine came in I told them zero cleaning at the dealer so almost zero paint correction for the ppf and ceramic coating. Beyond that it wasn’t much different, although the paint was still pretty soft being so new.

Would it be a good idea to do a ceramic coat on these to help preserve the paint and prevent swirl marks

Absolutely! Though it can be costly the value you get out of it is worth it! Refer to my AMA post if you want to learn a little more about the ceramic world!

You guys have me paranoid now! 😂 What Toyota?

I had a 2010 Mag Gray Tacoma and literally 1 week before trading in, I scraped my rear quarter panel flat on the corner of my garage. 🤢

The curve in the fender popped out fine and a mild solvent took the white garage paint off. I was shocked to find that the mag grey paint had barely been damaged. If I had felt like it, a buffer probably could have made it perfect.

If this is the quality of the Ford paint, I will be happy. But I'm guessing you are talking a different year or model?

Hello guys and gals! I’m looking at buying a wildtrak and wanted to know how well the paint corrects on the bronco. I unfortunately I haven’t had any come through out shop so I haven’t been able to test it on my own.
I had my wildtrak paint corrected and ceramic coated and it came out fantastic. The pictures don’t even do it justice

They do have a paint shop and said it would go to their paint shop - hopefully they are good…

Haha, yeah the metallic paint jobs are usually a little thicker and harder than normal on Toyotas, but they still don’t hold up well overtime. If a mild solvent one time damages your paint, I’m pretty sure that’d be an issue across all manufacturers. We aren’t to that crap of paint quality yet ;)

im mostly talking about how paint holds up overtime. The best thing about ford used to be their paint

Id put money on them doing a good job on it. It would behoove you though to take it to somebody that specializes in paint correction if something doesn’t look right.
