My $0.02….I think the funniest thing said in the launch was…

“Reduces perceived wind noise by nearly 20% compared to the 2021 Bronco”

We are measuring and quoting “perceptions” now? Simply stick a decibel meter in there…it’s either louder, quieter, or the same?

I didn’t know we had gotten to measuring perceptions and/or possibly feelings.
"Perceived" has been a sticking point -- Ford measured the improvements in sones.

Sones measure how loud something feels to humans, how loud we "perceive" it to be. 2 sones are twice as loud as 1 sone.

Decibels measure physical energy, the pressure of sound. The same decibel can sound different depending on the frequency, or hertz. 2 decibels do not sound twice as loud as 1 decibel.

All that to say, that's why Ford used sones and the word "perceived."

The 2021 Bronco was coming in at 29-31 sones and now we are looking at 24 sones.

I got the sone figures from Ed Krenz, chief engineer.

You've contradicted yourself there with energy and pressure - two entirely different quantities (meanings, units, etc.).

Decibel can refer to a plethora of physical quantities, not just sound & pressure. It's just a logarithmic scale, e.g. earthquake intensity.

Lastly sound, when measured in dB is either pressure or power, inconveniently both SPL, usually in dB.

Is that you with MJ? If so, very cool!
Not I, but the shop owner. Shot by a mate who I had mentioned the Filson Bronco to. I’m (still) in Utah. 🏜

I’m really stoked and curious why this gets the 3.0!? The mud flaps and running boards are on my shopping list and hope they become available.

I was at the event and I can tell you this Bronco is a step up from everything else we have currently. The 3.0L which I told viewers over a year ago was coming will NOT be the same horse power as Raptor. I expect 360-370hps. I was told a year ago the 2.7L is going away and the 3.0L will take its pace in the line up but I wouldnt expect this till 28.

For those that are smarter than me (everyone), what am I seeing here?

This was on the green Filson mule.

That looks like an auxiliary power setup. Could have been for the show, but my bud who is an "overlander" has something similar in his Bronco. It runs his fridge and some other things and does not draw off the battery directly.

Who knows....maybe the Filson will have this built in, or maybe be an option.

Does it really with no issues?

If it does fit without much worry, that would be ideal as that engine is well known, loved, and sounds sublime.

The Coyote 5.0 is an all time wet dream of a motor! :)
It's ALL about proper placement. There IS just enough room to fit a 5.0 v8 with NO modifications to the frame, or crossmembers, or firewall...mostly a custom oil pan is needed to clear the FDU and electric swaybar. I purposely positioned my 5.2 Raptor engine about 2" higher up and back 3" for additional transfer case ground clearance... and to make additional room for the Ultimate-60-FDU... the end goal is a flat skid plate attached directly to the frame with NOTHING below the frame rails. Exhaust, crossmember, transfer case and fuel tank ALL need moved or modified to accomplish this.
