Major 10 speed transmission update for 2026, fact or fiction?

There are videos out there on a major transmission update for the 2026 model year. The videos discuss significant hardware and software changes, but some are calling it AI nonsense. Some are saying its only minor software tweeks. I havent had any luck finding "official" information from Ford. Does anyone know the truth behind this 2026 update? My 22 Bronco suffers from occasional harsh shifts, most notable is a harsh downshift when braking for a light. I'm also intrested in if there has been any notable TCM or PCM software updates to address these issues.

First of all this video is primarily talking about the 10R80 which the Bronco doesn’t have.
Aside from that, a lot of the mechanical issues were fixed years ago. As far as software, Ford has been consistently tweaking it over the years since release, but not to the level this video makes you assume.

98% of the 10R80 issues were never programming. It was mechanical issues inside the transmission which were already revised back in 22/23. One of those issues being the CDF clutch drum bushing, which is an extremely rare failure in a 10R60.

The valve body issues the video talks about are somewhat accurate, but not anywhere as common as the other concerns already fixed. But this can cause some intermittent shifting concerns like what you experience. But to my knowledge, nothing has really been changed.

There’s certainly no “complete redesign” this video makes you believe.

It’s just a drum that houses the C, D and F clutches. There’s a bushing in the middle that moves when it’s not supposed to and causes all sorts of shenanigans

Well, now I have a question. When was that transmission fix put in again? I have a Bronco with a V6 and a 10-speed... Sept. 2022 build.

What symptoms would I look for?

Or are you saying the Bronco doesn't have a 10R80 transmission... so don't worry about it?

Since the bronco has a 10R60, it’s not something you need to be worried about. It’s really only a big concern on older 10R80 transmissions.

I have seen in happen in the 10R60 also, but like I mentioned above, it’s very rare. And the 10R60 drum has not been changed or updated (at least not since last time I checked)

Thanks for this information! My Bronco is out of the 3-year warrantee. What do you think about an FDRS subscription? Would it allow me to determine what software updates are available for my Bronco and install them?

Yeah this really no different than the video posted above and why anything AI related should be taken with a grain of salt.
TSB 23-2250 is outdated, no longer available and was far more in-depth than a simple PCM reprogram. That was only one small part of a much larger approach to fix the concern.

That's really up to you.
It would allow you to update any out of date modules, but I wouldn't expect them to be a 100% fix all for any concerns you may have.
