Hello,

Here's what I ordered:
'22 Badlands non-Sasquatch with 2.3L manual and 73K miles

Here's what I've done:
Blown stock shocks and springs replaced at about 62K miles with Bilstein 6100's and sasquatch springs.
1" BORA wheel spaces w/ stock badlands wheels + BFG K02 315/70/17's
BOSS Panhard/Track Bar Relocation Bracket
New low profile crash bars

I've been noticing in the last 1K miles that there are times when the steering feels stiff or grabbing. At first I thought it was my imagination. It's getting worse and more noticeable and frankly could be considered dangerous now.

I'd like to bring it to the dealer and use my extended warranty from Granger but I'm worried they will deny the claim. From my perspective, my bronco is not really any different than a stock Sasquatch Bronco from a dynamics/geometry perspective.

Would you guys have an opinion on what's happening and if I should take it into the dealer?

Thanks!

There probably is an issue in the steering rack - bushing going out or the belt/motor starting to go.

As far as warranty goes - there's only one way to find out really. And the worst possible outcome - you pay a diag fee, then upgrade to HOSS 3 rack anyway.

Or just skip the diag fee and go ahead and jump on the upgraded rack...

Probably a bad rack…I don’t see a downside of trying to get warranty service…if they don’t warrenty it the Severe Service “hoss 2-3” rack isn’t much of a price difference…get it fixed!!

I want to get it fixed, I just want to prepare for the dealer to suggest its a bad rack because I changed something. I mean, why did I buy an extended warranty? I'm hoping for the best.

I'm not sure if it's the same as what you're describing, but sometimes I feel the steering wheel grab like the Bronco thinks I'm going over the street line.

100% not it but thank you. It's a similar feeling, but not it. Happening randomly.

Generally speaking, do you think an addition of 1" wheel spacers and 35" K02's caused my steering rack failure?

Not by themselves. Plenty of Broncos run that or worse. No accounting for the driver though - to be honest.

Just depends on how your dealer is feeling. No good reason for them to deny, but there are plenty of examples where dealers pick any reason, good or otherwise, to deny a claim and push it to end user repair

I first had a '21 Big Bend that drove just fine, then last month I went to a '26 Big Bend w/ the black diamond package that included different tire. The '26 drive completely different from the '21. It seems to have a mind of its own, especially around turns, or uneven pavement. Then it grabs and lurches into a turn, and I feel like I am fighting it. I have written it off to the more rugged tires, but it sounds very much like what you are describing.

Dumb question here, but I just bought a bronco. You apparently have had yours and are familiar with it. But I noticed the steering feels a bit odd and grabs when the lane keeping feature is on, which you may not have. Just throwing the possibility out there--Whoops looks like Badlands Blade was saying the same thing.

This happened to me after it was parked for 3 days. Felt like I was fighting the lane assist mostly to the left just to make small adjustments to keep going straight. Other times it felt like I was hitting a wall while trying to turn. I sprayed some grease on the steering shaft universals and it seemed to go away. Been a few weeks anyway.

Doesn't the lane assist have visual and audio clues plus it must be turned on? Mine is not engaged and I don't see any of those indicators.

I haven't read this whole thread so please excuse me if this has already been proposed. Is it your Lane Assist Steering that you're experiencing?

Several people have suggested it. Unless its malfunctioning, I don't think thats the problem.
