Recently borrowed a buddy’s rig, threw on some of our lights, and took it out on the trails. Honestly, even though it’s not a Bronco, it was still a super fun rig to wheel.

Got me curious though. Have you guys wheeled anything other than a Bronco before? How did it compare? What felt better, and what did you miss about the Bronco?

Good looking rig.
It would be nice to be able to see pricing on Unity4X4's site.
They have some really interesting quick-release awning brackets.

To stay on topic, Yes, I have wheeled several vehicles prior and some of them were very rugged and considerably less refined off-road and on road.
But that ruggedness and simplicity, though not as refined and "nice", made them easier to push harder or put in conditions most definitely would not want to jeopardize a $50K+ vehicle.
The ease to use the capability of the Bronco is light years ahead of any of these.
Conversely, the ability to continue downrange with one of the below with a quick trail fix vs a 6G was much easier.
There were no modules or sensors to keep happy to be able to get out of a jam.

Only SxS’s and 4 wheelers before my Bronco.. Been in a few dedicated trail rigs as a passenger. Made the decision for a Bronco easy when it relaunched. Going off road is so fun, the freedom of navigation wherever you’d like.

A bit of a list of my previous off roaders, some lifted, some stock, all were a blast off road in their own way but the Bronco leaves them all in the dust.

I've wheeled a previous gen Ranger and both Ranger Raptor generations, JK Rubicon, previous gen Toyota Tacoma and Prado, as well as three W461 generation G-Wagens. Tbh, I am somewhat underwhelmed by the Bronco and it's off-road capability. It certainly is a lot more refined than the JK Rubicon or the older G-Wagens. But the Bronco just struggles with finding traction and ground clearance. Even the Ranger with 32" tires and 2" lift kit cleared things more easily as long as the extra length wasn't a constraint on the trails.

Overall the Rubicon was probably the most off-road capable, but poor to drive on the road or long distances. The Rangers, especially in Raptor trim, was the ultimate do everything platform.

But my heart goes to the 2001 Mercedes 290GDT. No lift, no plus size tires (235/85R16), just stock. It would go anywhere it was pointed to, and make it seem effortless. Also, surprisingly comfortable on long trips. It wasn't winning any speed records, but got me all over Europe and Northern Africa.

my first (of countless) rubicon trip was in ‘69 when I got back from Vietnam and there has been a list of pretty serious off roaders since…the bronco fills the lesser off road need for this old sick guy in comfort for my old age…
