They can keep every EV. My cold, dead hands is what they are going to pry my ICE "keys" from.
I get it. Change is scary and difficult to accept.

Change that does nothing except redistribute wealth is not a good change.
Conspiracy?

Having spent about 6 years wrenching on the very first hybrids (from the 40s and 50s) I look forward to the amount of torque an electric motor brings to the table... Very useful off road. I do want to see the weight decrease significantly before I think they are viable off road though.

But I do have a battery powered lawn mower and tools. Does that count?
Only means you can accept the change in one area but not another...

Lets be honest, you obviously see value in electric lawn mowers and tools... But no matter how good a vehicle becomes you are not going to accept it? why?

What if it had 1000 mile range, charged in 30 minutes and only weighed 3000 lbs while producing 1000 ft lbs torque?

When it comes to driving I prefer the mechanical feel, sound and "character" of an ICE engine. I have driven a few electric vehicles and they just strike me as numb with no feedback. No electric vehicle will give me the same feeling as my dad's 4 speed 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty 455 I inherited and learned to drive in as younger me. Heck, I even prefer 2 stroke dirt bikes over 4. I still have a Honda CR480R that I will never give up. The smell and visceral feel of it all I enjoy just too much.

Then it would break the laws of physics in one area and be insanely dangerous in another.

Flamesuit on.

Nobody needs to accelerate quicker than 0-60mph in 5 seconds on the road. Would everyone still love EVs if they were regulated by the federal government, from whom they took money, to 6 second 0-60 times so we don't have a 5ft-nothing parent turning kids into pink mist?

If it took me 30 minutes to fill up an ICE vehicle for a 1000 mile range, I would call it a failure... to it's face!

I understand. I had a 74 Kawasaki CO750 3 cylinder 2 cycle that was never offered to the public... Bought it off a former factory racer. Had to put lights and mirrors on it to make it street legal. Amazing bike! I do miss that. I have built multiple cars and trucks over the years. I love the deep sound of a lopey cammed V8 with an extended duration lift. That Trans Am sounds fun. My first car was a 67 firebird...

I also agree that the "drive by wire" feed back is really lacking, at least the ones I have experienced. I prefer an electric assist rack and pinion like the Bronco has.... At least if I am looking at electric. I also do not like the "rolling cell phone" approach to vehicles these days, ICE and electric. I am curious to see the Slate when it comes out. Suppose to be a stripped down electric. None of the "cell phone" issues. Personally I think it is a step in the right direction. We will see how well it meets my idea of what an electric should be. I am thinking it might end up being a decent around town grocery getter but we will see. I sure as hell am not about to commit to one yet.
