Apartment Living and Bronco Washing

Second apartment had a car wash station, just like a self service car wash. However, I didn't really like that, so I got 100 foot hose and an adapter for my kitchen sink to hook up the hose to it. I was on the second floor and I would just run the hose out the door and down into the parking lot, and across the parking lot where I had a garage and wash inside the garage

How was the sink adaptor setup? I’ve always wondered if it gave enough pressure.

@MJ12 yeah, probably one of the simplest solutions, 3 or 4 water buckets and 1 soapy water bucket with your sponges.

I’ve thought about that, but living on the 3rd floor with no elevator and being 65, I don’t really want to go that route if possible.

Self service car wash. Use the high pressure wash and rinse. Then follow up with a spray on dry aid. Many spray ceramics and quick detail sprays work well for this. Check out Griots. Then follow up with detail spray where needed. Some car washes have outboard motor flush which is a garden hose. You could fill bucket there and hand wash then rinse in the bay. Did it back in my teens. You can figure out a system.

I guess it was OK, I remember washing my car every Thursday evening, so it would be fresh for the weekend (oh to be young and single again). I don't remember any issues with the water pressure so it must've been at least somewhat adequate.

it was also back then that I learned that you only need a cap of detergent in an entire bucket of water to wash car, so I didn't have crazy suds everywhere so it didn't take a lot to rinse

There is a company called muc-off that makes a battery operated power sprayer. I have seen motocross riders use it to clean their dirtbikes so I bought one for my Bronco. At my beach house I don’t always have access to a house so I use this power washer. It will take off the big stuff and then you can use washless products as well. If you go off roading you can find a creek and fill it to rinse dirt off as well. It works pretty good.

Lived in several apartment complexes over the years here in North Ga. Everyone I lived in had one or two car wash bays somewhere in the complex. I would drive to it with my supplies, clean the go back. Do you not have something there?

Unfortunately no, nothing here. The self serve car wash in the next town is managed by a rigid dude who lets no one do a proper bucket wash.

I second the Optimum No Rinse less wash (ONR). As long as your vehicle isn't covered in mud or salt. I have been using ONR since I bought the Bronco. After winter was over brought out pressure washer, mitt and bucket of soap. Each one has there place. Using a rinse less wash is something you have to get used to.

While you won't get high water pressure from it, you can get any of the cheap camping shower hoses from Amazon. These are usually a hand held sprayer with hose and a small pump at the end that you drop into a bucket of water. You can even find more expensive self-contained units that include a sealable water container.

I have used an automatic car wash since I got the Bronco and never had any issues with leaking. I go at least once a week.
