We love Broncos but… what’s the most annoying “small issue” with your Bronco?

the nannies. the one that bugs me most is the parking brake. I'd much rather have an emergency brake.
Yeah, that’s a common one and a lot of people are mentioning it here.

Feels like one of those things that didn’t really need to be changed in the first place... do you find yourself missing the old-style lever?

The location of the window buttons took some getting used to. Not really an issue except when I occasionally hit the electronic parking brake in my wife’s BMW when I am trying to roll up the window. It’s a big surprise when you are at highway speed. 😀
That’s a surprise you only need once 😅

Funny how switching between vehicles can mess with muscle memory like that.

People have already mentioned the electronic emergency brake. To me it's just a very minor irritation in daily operation. Still, I'd much rather have a positive visual indication that the brake is engaged even when the vehicle is turned off.

Also, having a manual emergency brake is something that could come in real handy, or even be a safety benefit, in unusual situations. Things like engaging or disengaging the brake with a dead battery, or being able to partially engage or disengage it.

I want those capabilities there in reserve just in case, particularly in remote areas or on the trail, like they've been in almost all of my other vehicles over my lifetime.
That makes a lot of sense. It’s less about daily use and more about having that control when you actually need it.

Especially in those edge-case situations where electronics aren’t cooperating. Have you ever had a situation where that manual control would’ve made a difference?

No wide-angle blindspot "bubble" on the factory side mirrors.

My 21 ranger had them.. and those mirrors were smaller than the broncos IIRC..
Yeah, that’s a good one, especially since other Ford models already had it.

Seems like a small thing, but makes a big difference day-to-day.

Did you end up adding something aftermarket or just getting used to it?

The button. The one I forgot to press at least once every day. You know the one.

We have a '22 OBX and a '23 Wildtrak, both with soft tops. When raining or with melting snow, water drips into the cabin when opening the front doors. I'm also in the camp with folks complaining about rattling partly-open windows. I keep reaching for the center console for window switches in my '21 Super Duty!

The Varrrooom noise in the sound system. You should not need a computer to turn it off.

TL DR Pillar-less windows and electronic parking brake not functioning predictably because of programming issues and module powering.

During engine startup when it pulls all the voltage, the windows decide to go back to their default all the way up position. So if you close a door during this time it'll crash into the top-sill and you'll have to roll it down slightly and then back up to get seated properly.

Additionally as you reach a destination, if you turn off the engine before all the windows have rolled up and then open any door, the car will fully turn off and interrupt and stop windows going even if uou clicked switch. Most cars let them keep rolling. I've accidentally left windows cracked a couple times because of this.

Could a dual battery setup address these issues?

I guess the expectation is you shouldn't LeMans style start your car and instead should let it build oil pressure before starting off and let it circulate oil once it's stopped.

Never has a manual car's parking brake been less trustworthy. It will not or partially deploy if car is turning fully off and that dreaded "service parking brake now" message will appear. This has happened to me more times than i can count.

I was taught to listen for traffic and I naturally got in habit of looking listening out the back of my cracked door for oncoming cars, cyclists, etc before the loud coldstart of the car where brake pressure builds and you can disable the parking brake.

In other cars with a manual handbrake you can see and feel the engagement and the childproofing is completed thru a hard press and pull.

Relying on a brake light in the dash to confirm a brake is set is a design flaw. A tactile difference in switch position would be preferred if they had to keep it electronic.

You won't actually know if the parking brake engaged because the 4 cylinder violently rattles to a stop, and if you put it in accessory only to roll up windows you can't tell from dash whether its engaged or not. So in order to remedy both its best to fully to restart the engine and wait for the car to give you full voltage and ensure the parking brake is in and windows are fully up. Your passenger who opened door in the first place will be inside destination already at this point.

This all sounds trivial but it if you drive a bronco you will be going places worthy of getting out frequently and you'll run into this, but if you're not in a habit of leaving it in gear this bronco could very easily roll down a mountain.

Not only do my windows not close properly while getting in but the parking brake won't then disengage if you try to do it during engine startup. It can't disengage during engine startup and you can't tell because the dash "Brake" will still be on momentarily. So you'll setoff with clutch only because touching gas on a slow creeping start makes interrupts the fuel injection system ultimately likely to stall, but you'll stall inevitably because the car ran up against the parking brake which you thought you had clicked off, but had pressed button at wrong time.

My 2010 manual f10 BMW 5 sereies didnt have these particularities because it had normal doors and windows, but also because the car wouldn't actually turn off until you locked the keyfob, meaning you could simultaneously roll up all the windows while setting the parking brake while turning off the engine and have other passengers getting out and cherry on top keep the music playing until you truly decided you were done with the vehicle and not just dropping someone off, and only once you decided and locked car with keyfob would every module go to sleep mode. if you wanted to rely on the electronic parking brake you could because that module wasn't in sleep mode yet.

Hey at least the automatic drivers don't have to deal with this or be delayed waiting for a gear selector to rise out the center console like some recent Range Rovers require.

Am i missing a forscan change that could allow me to tie the igntion off with a keyfob click rather than a door opening?
