$20 Hood Struts

I was ordering the Ford Performance tailgate reinforcement from 21BroncoParts.com and they had hood struts on clearance for $20 so I bought those too. They seem reasonable and were easy to install (after I found the bolt that I dropped)

They are doing the job. Time will tell to see how the hold up.

My wife and I were making fun of the instructions because on step 2 they say to not drop the bolt. I dropped the bolt. I had to remove the wheel arch and the clips on the bottom wheel liner to let the bolt drop back out. It was a pain, so don't drop the bolt.

I used some rusty channel locks on the hood part to tighten it, out of laziness, and they left a stain that is visible on the zoomed in picture. I will try not to obsess about that. ha!

The plastic clip on the end looks like it’s bending already. Are these generic struts or the ford performance ones?

These are generic struts. The top piece has a slight angle to it, so not bending, that is just how that plastic cap is shaped. I was already buying something so adding the struts was a $20 impulse buy, but they easily lift the hood and the design seems identical to the redline and ford parts
