Hi everyone,

We’ve been exploring some new add-on concepts to further maximize the utility of the Bronco's cargo area. Today, we’d love to share a Mid-Level Slide-Out Platform concept specifically designed for the 4-door Bronco.

The Concept: This is a dual-level cargo organization system that splits your cargo space into two zones.
  • Upper Zone: A sliding table board that acts as a quick-access work surface or a lunch table at camp.
  • Lower Zone: Provides enough clearance (approx. 500mm / 19.7”) to fit most large portable fridges and heavy gear on the TrailDeck below.

Scenario Modes we’ve envisioned:
  1. Quick Table: A convenient desk for laptops or meal prep (best used with a small seat/stool).
  2. Sleeping Support: Creates an extended flat surface for overlanding sleep setups.
  3. Heavy Gear Loading: Makes accessing items stored deep in the trunk much easier by sliding the entire top tier out.

The Engineering Challenge & Your Feedback: We’ve noticed a slight trade-off in the current design:
  • To fit large fridges below, the table height sits slightly higher than a typical desk.
  • If you sit on a thick cushion (~6"), headroom might feel a bit limited for some.

We’d love to hear your thoughts:
  1. Would you use a mid-level slide-out like this in your setup?
  2. If you had to choose one, which matters more to you?
A: Larger storage space below (to fit a taller fridge/gear).
B: A more comfortable table height (lowering the platform for better ergonomics while sitting).
We’re genuinely excited to co-create a product that truly works for real Bronco owners. Please let us know your creative ideas, concerns, or any features you'd like to see!

Cheers, The Broaddict Team

That’s a cool idea.
It could also act as a smash/grab deterrent seeing as it does not flip up, if it comes all the way back and won’t slide out on a closed tailgate.
A standing height table to work from is a nice idea, doubling as a true shelf for carrying gear.

Interested to see how this comes along.

Speaking for myself, larger storage under the 'table' would be more important. Cool idea, and being in product management myself, I love the way you're going to the users for feedback during the design phase.

I'd like to see a rendering of the platform... top view, tailgate closed with the rear seats in view.
To see what it would look like with the MIC top removed.

Maybe this would be helpful for some people, but not me. After last year camping in my Bronco a few times, I will be building a shelf in my Bronco this Spring for camping season. Last year, I just removed the rear seats, assembled a flat board on one side to sleep on. It didn't leave much room for gear and only allowed one person. This year, my thoughts are remove the rear seats, use a top shelf for sleeping, with storage underneath. The shelf would sit about the height of the rear wheel well. I don't use ridiculously large coolers, so I need less space under the shelf for gear. My shelf was going to be forward extendable for sleeping. There would be more open space, where the rear seats were, for quick equipment access during non-sleeping hours, including a smaller cooler right behind the driver's seat. I had something similar when I had a Nissan Xterra and it worked well. I think this organization is more space-efficient.

Here are the renderings to give you a feel for the design. We are still in the concept phase, so the dimensions haven't been locked in just yet. I'll keep you posted as we move toward final specs.

Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for. As long as it covers the "trunk" when the hard top is off (maybe a smaller gap between the slide and the tailgate... little hard to tell in the images). I would definitely be interested in one when it's released! (y)

Nice, but could it be adjustable, using the pillar as the rail/track. Then the height from the deck/floor to this mid-level platform can vary and even be raised if for the evening.

just my 2 cents

You guys/girls are really doing a great job designing new products and seeking feedback. I really enjoy the 3-D design illustrations. I think this looks great. My one big request is to try have it compatible with existing Broaddict hardware, such as the tailgate table, slide out bottom, and molle sides. This will likely result in a slightly sub-optimal stand alone design and make it a harder to design, but for all those folks who have already purchased your products and for those folks who can only afford to buy one piece at a time, it will do wonders and increase both your sales and product loyalty. Also include an optional, removable molle raised panel for the top, say 1/2" above the surface to allow secure attachment of items.

This is exactly what I’m looking for! I love your slide out, but I want to integrate it with a security enclosure for days with the top off. Only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet

That looks like a good design. I would like a to be able to close and lock the cargo area with the soft top down. Slide out with more tie downs would be great on the upper level.

I ended up coming up with my own setup. I installed a tray from hooke road that sits flush with the tailgate. So essentially like a top to the cargo area. It leaves a gap between the seats and the tray, not perfect but I’m happy with the set up. I ended up getting a custom tray made by wickedrelics.com. Powder coated to match my velocity blue and I was able to configure it to exactly what I needed and wanted.

So glad you like the slide out concept and TrailDeck! You’re right—it doesn't work with security enclosures due to mounting bracket interference.

We totally get why security is a must for those 'top-off' days. We’re taking this feedback directly to R&D for future improvements. Thanks for keeping it real with us!
