Nothing really against 4-doors. My daughter has a 4-Dr OBX V6. She will take that thing just about anywhere.

I just had a lot of 2-doors... and like the short length (i.e. 2 FJ40s, 2 Wranglers, 2 Mitsu-Monteros, a red OJ Bronco, a Bronco II, and now my 2-door Bronco).

They're all fun, although the 96 Bronco was a bit big!

My four door does every trail at least as well as my two door did. The four door is much easier to drive fast off road, so where is the two door advantage? Looks are subjective, off road performance not so much.

Most two door blow holes have never driven a four door off road. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

2-Door Advantages:
1) Won't bottom-out as fast over uneven terrain.
2) Look a lot better.
3) Parallel park easier (mall crawler mode).
4) A yellow one won't be confused with a school bus.

I don't think they're trying to kill the 2-door, I just think they're in the business of building vehicles that sell.
I totally and completely 100% agree. But that does not build any form of brand loyalty, either. The Bronco hype was created by a small percentage of the potential Bronco buyers and I'd wager a disproportionately high number of the "Bronco hypers" bought 2-doors and probably manuals. Ford will walk away from them for profits. These people that bought into Ford's seeming commitment to the off road truck category will feel cheated and betrayed. Then the hype or excitement around the Bronco brand will die. Then people will go buy Land Cruisers and 4Runners. Look at the Miata. They sold 8,103 MX-5s in the US for '24 vs Fords 109K+ Broncos, but what does that Miata model mean to Mazda? Sometimes the market value of these things can't be captured in an Excel spreadsheet.

Which, as has been pointed out numerous times, were solely 2 doors. 2 doors are just cooler.

I already have a couple of V8 broncos. This one with a 427 stroker in it. Getting close at the body shop.

Nice project. What are you doing for cooling? Classics love to boil over when slow walking with just a 302.

If CJs, FJs, Defenders, Scouts, Broncos, K Blazers, and the like have been objects of intense desire in your life for 5 decades or more, maybe you get the 2 -door thing. Now if these vehicles have always been just out of reach for one reason or another for 50 years, THEN you probably understand how a dude might be a little butt hurt to see the object of his intense desire again fading away back into oblivion right before his eyes. I remember when the Bronco and Defender 90 died in '96 and the two door Tahoe/Jimmy died in '99, because I tried to buy each of them then but they were just beyond my financial means. Buying used back then was not what it is today, either. It was considerably more risky. And let's just say I had little to no respect for the AMC/Jeep/Chrysler corporate history.

Now today I am lucky and fortunate enough to have a 2-dr Bronco that is TOTAL PASSIONATE LOVE AFFAIR and also a 4-door Bronco that is useful.
Having had an 81 CJ-5, 76 Bronco, a 93 XJ (4-door) & now my 22 4-Door, I have evolved much like the Bronco & Jeeps over the last 40 years. So I've evened out the score with 2 Jeeps 2 door & 4 door & 2 Broncos 2 door & 4 door 🤠.

Yeah I agree.

Obviously Ford did the market research on the Jeep Wrangler, and if you look over there... 4-Door outsells 2-door by approx 8-to-1. So I'm sure they expected very similar numbers on the Bronco.

But if the Bronco came out and 2-Door sales was... say... ≈40% of the market, then I think the trim lineups would look very different than they do today. I don't think they're trying to kill the 2-door, I just think they're in the business of building vehicles that sell.
It's why I think the right answer for Ford is to meet in the middle, and do an FJ solution with the hidden rear doors. As long as the 2 door is using a separate frame, I think it will cost Ford more to manufacture it. If they can figure out how to build a 2 door on a 4 door chassis, I think everyone can win.

As soon as I saw the new broncos I new I wanted a 4 door. I needed a 4 door for the room and the doors anyway, but the 2 door just doesn't look right to me.
And I completely get that. My wife totally wanted a 4-door. Clearly Ford would have to have been complete and total idiots to NOT offer a 4-door. It just pains me that they put all of the hype into the legend as basically bait.

It's like Krab. I actually like the crap in salad form on a sandwich, but don't try to tell me it's the same as fresh dungeness crab.

It's hard to say ... but maybe it's the people that are stupid enough to buy a 2-door are also the people stupid enough to go racing their Broncos. :)
