I looked through threads and I am sure it here but, I was wanting to know if theres more to sas'ing a non sas badlands than just removing crashbars and adding the 35's. I would have a hard time believing that no lift is required and I am aware that mine has 4.4 gearing and a sas has 4.7. Im just thinking of swapping when I do a dedicated offroad weekend and then swapping back when I am daily driving. Please point me to the right thread, im sure it exists

SAS will have

4A (not sure you can get that if you don't already have it - this is the one thing you can't really get aftermarket / takeoff)
m210 with Front ELD and larger front CV axles (over m190 front axles)
Rear ELD with 4.70 gear ratio
~1.5" lift (over non-Badlands/WT trims) on HOSS 2 Bilsteins (or HOSS 3 Foxes)
may have Severe Duty Steering Rack
315/70r17 on +33 offset rims

Most people at Starbucks just notice the tires and lift though. Depends on if you are going beyond the pavement as to how far you want to take it.

Badlands has about 1" of lift over other models (give or take, rounding) -- so a SAS is about another 0.5" over a non-SAS Badlands.

Also - all Wildtraks and Heritage are SAS, even if they don't explicitly say it.

And while Badlands comes with ~most~ of the SAS stuff, not all BL are SAS.

^^^This!

My '26 came with SAS flares, so the non-SAS tires seem small. I've got the 4.70 since I have a manual and I added the Elec StaBar Disconnect, but other elements of SAS like shocks would need to be added later. But, I couldn't justify the additional cost on the order...time will tell if I miss them in the near term but I dont have immediate plans to do any hard-core crawling.

Lift not needed for 35s but you'll need proper offset wheels...+30mm or less.

like Brian says, most people think the SAS is a lift & wheels package, but the real value is in the gearing, the bigger front diff/cv's & the advanced transfer case.
Try pricing that on your own & you'll realize you're getting the wheels/lift for free essentially.

As mentioned Sas is a half inch over a Badlands, too little to care at that point, unless someone wanted to upgrade to the Fox shocks (from the 3.0 package).

On my non-SAS Badlands I get rubbing with Sasquatch wheels on the top of the wheel well on the fronts when hitting large bumps and I managed to pop out a SAS wheel flare while fully stuffed and turning. The SAS Bilstein shocks have a bigger bump stop than the Badlands Bilstein shocks and have slightly reduced articulation. For me I could use that small reduction in up travel to not rub.

Many thanks all, its more or less just curiosity at this point. so far, the 33's really seem to be just fine for what Im doing.
You’ve got the machine to go wherever you want, just avoid the big rocks until you know the right line (like you did in your other thread). Bigger tires and a slight lift is really just about ground clearance, which is only an issue when you need it. 😎 Oh, and aesthetics.

PS: I’ve found 4A an extremely useful setting for simple trails or FS roads. Grippy. I don’t know how rough those rides would feel without the Fox shocks, but Hoss 3.0 makes rocky gravel at 30mph feel almost like pavement.

I would at least do a 1” spacer lift or 3/4” body lift on a non Sasquatch badlands to run 35”s…

Probably your offset unless you got custom rims to go with.

Stock non-SAS offset is +55 and can rub a good bit like this without a spacer to push the wheel out a little bit.

SAS wheels sits about 1” further out on +33. Most folks will either:
Trim the liners or get creative with zipties
Small (3/4” to 1”) body lift or 1.5” to 2” tophat lift
Get a 1” to 1.5” wheel spacer
Get new rims (usually +18 to 0 offset)
Get SAS takeoffs for cheap
