It has a ton of lateral movement as the suspension cycles…..the link geometry is terrible. It is mostly a result of the short length of the links….if you cross a small ditch diagonally you can actually feel the rear end steer side to side…I know a lot of people like it cause it flexes well but I’m am not one of those people.
Different kind of movement from the trackbar. Only the top links are triangulated, and the bottom links are still parallel. So while you’ll no longer have the rear steer from train tracks and what not, while crawling over stuff you can see the rear end moving side to side if you really pay attention. Having joints with super high misalignment exacerbates the effect. You don’t notice it much on how it feels, but it can push your driveline into beefy fuel tank skid supports. Going to a double cardan fixed that problem on ours, but eventually we’d like to get a wider axle and triangulate the lower links in towards the frame to mitigate it a little more.

Wow.This picture shows how bad the rear steer is with the 4 link…when flexed this way the driveshaft and pinion move away from the gas tank….twisted the opposite way…passenger compressed and driver flexed out it pushes into the gas tank…we are talking like 3” in each direction.
We have all RK links. I believe the Adventure Series Joints on the PB&J lower links have free rotating pivot sleeves and to my knowledge (could be wrong) these have the highest misalignment ability of the available joints on the market. Certainly won’t help with lateral movement but dammmnnnn can they flex.
My lowers are 7075 aluminum with Johnny joints at both ends, the rock krawler uppers are adventure joints at the frame end and krawler joints at the axle end.
Stock axels. Would rather not talk about the dollar damage.

Those adventure joints are super soft rubber joints. the johnny joints are likely some better and are similar to the krawler joints.

I haven't had this beast off road yet so can't comment on that just yet but as you can imagine with the articulation shown I am confident it will not suck. Road manners are slightly degraded from stock, the rig feels a bit more like a truck at the steering wheel but not bad. I did take a high speed turn over a washboard and the tendency for rear steer was clearly diminished. My initial install of the Axle-Back exhaust had two AFE mufflers and I found the tone to be great but it was way too loud for my liking, my pre-teen daughters were calling me a "look-at-me", super embarrassing. Installed a third muffler and it was perfect - throaty but not obnoxiously attention seeking.
I've got to give props to the crew at Colorado Bronco Upfitters, they were incredibly professional, honest and solid advocates through the whole process. Highly recommend!
How did you keep your stock wheels?
