First off, I have the standard stereo pkg and not the B&O.

I received a pair of Hertz DCK 100 speakers for Christmas and noticed that a lot of people on here use the CX 100. I tried the Crutchfield listen and the only difference I could tell was the DCX 100’s had a bit clearer voice but then I was on a computer listening through a lousy headset.

Questions are: I want to replace the dash and rear pod speakers so should I just purchase another pair of DCX or would the CX be better in one or the other positions? I have the M2M attic shelf so changing rear pods is out.

Do I need bass blockers for the dash speakers?

Do I need to change anything with Forscan?

I have the B&O system. I put the DCXs in all 4 corners - no bass blockers or forscans adjustments. Sound is cleaner.

I have the dcx’s in dash and pods. I used 600hz blockers in dash with the 2023 7 speaker system with sub.

well worth the $260 upgrade so far. I may go amp and upgrade sub down the road.

I have DCX100's in the dash and rear pods (non B&O). The raised center cone of the CX100 is high enough above the mounting flange of the speaker so that the stock dash speaker and pod covers will not fit over the "taller" CX100. DCX100's are a direct fit for both speaker locations.
You can confirm fit capability on Crutchfield's web site. I failed to do so, but only once!

I have the CX 100’s in my dash and have no fitment issues. I ran the DX 100’s for a while and found them to be too bright and treble heavy.

I also have CX 165 in the rear. The extra cost of the CX line was well worth it in my opinion.

Upon reflection, I misspoke in my earlier post. I only fit the cx100's in the rear pods, where they did not fit. I did not attempt to put the cx100's in the dash. Thx @Migo for pointing out my error.

Thank you all for your replies!!

For now I'm go to just install the DCX' to the rear with harness adapters and think about the CX to the front.

Looking at the Forscan sheet, I'm a little confused on the speakers. My as-built is:

727-01-01 382B 16F1 10AA = Base speaker configuration (non-LUX), Driver Front Kick Panel/Dash Speakers is set to speaker/tweeter which makes sense.

Then it gets weird. Rear Pass is set to tweeter and Rear Driv is set to tweeter and sub. The 24 HE has as a 7 speaker system W/Sub. With the DCX rears should they be changed to Speaker/Tweeter and Speaker/Tweeter and Sub (2 and A respectively)?

727-01-02 0901 000D 0048 = Equalizer - assist with rear speakers and subwoofer is set to high pass filter on. Should this be changed to off with the DCX's?

The Forscan settings are a bit misleading.

But Yes - to everything you mention. Feel free to play with those settings some - I did notice it sounded a bit different with various values, and it's not hard to change if you already have Forscan hooked up.

For clarification - I have the Cx100’s in the dash and rear pods with no fitment issues. I also hate bright tweeters and have no issues with them.

Do those CX fit in your Bronco dash without the tweeters touching the grills? Apparently the tweeters on those can be angled a bit, but seems like that could cause them to protrude even more, I wonder if they risk making contact?

No issues with the tweeter hitting the grill - plenty of room.

Reviving this thread before I start a separate - I currently have the DCXs in my dash, but I installed them prior to installing the Mobridge amp. Now I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the CXs as I have plenty of power with the Mobridge...so question is are the CXs significantly better than the DCXs and worth the upgrade?

I would say it also depends on what other speakers you have installed, especially in your kick panels. I found the DCX line to have very harsh treble. It can be tempered some with true mid-bass speakers in your kick panels, and then further adjusted in the MoBridge DSP. With that said, if you are running full-range speakers in your kick panels and not mid-bass, I would think it to be too much treble (even with the DSP tune).

Thanks for the reply! I have Hertz MillePro coax in the kicks and Stinger tailgate sub. I’m pretty happy with the sound, don’t feel like there is too much treble and I’m using the Hertz tune from Fraiser on the Mobridge.

Just wondering if I’ll notice a substantial difference in sound quality with the CX vs the DCX…the additional power handling alone is leaning me towards the upgrade - better sound quality would seal the deal.

I felt that the upgrade was well worth it from a sound quality perspective. Especially with the additional power from the MoBridge amp.
