So I used both extension arms for the antenna so it’s well above the roof and an inch below the garage door. Too high?

I’ll be placing a Gazelle overland tent that’s 10x12” in cross section plus a 6” diameter water cylinder tank that will go up there as well as a strapped front runner bag. So thinking I need to get higher than those items. Thoughts?

For me, that would definitely be a problem, as I pass under a lot of low hanging branches that catch mine with the one extension. I wonder how much that whips around in 80+mph speeds?

If you only plan to use it while camping, attached to the roof rack on a pivot mount so it could be tied against the rack while down, then rotated up to it's highest position while in use would be a good way to get as much height as possible but still be good for driving.

Very interesting.... just wondering your thoughts on - if the internal antenna was installed be the aux switches would hinder or improve reception?

You did a nice, clan install!!! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure where I read it, but I remember something about the internal antenna needing to be on a different plane than the external antenna if the total distance between the two was at minimum specs. Probably not an issue in something like an RV, but I know my 2dr was barely long enough, so I wanted my internal several ft lower than the external.

I have the same rack as you, I’m trying to find a good way to mount it on the rack. Current I have it mounted with a ram ball with no extension and the antenna wire is ran between the roof panels and down the roll bar into the rear panel. Unfortunately the ram ball mount broke so I’m trying to find a good folding mount.

Yes, I’ve seen videos of the breaking antennae so I’m of the opinion that this mount on the Hammer Built will protect the rod so as not to flex too much during highway driving. Our intent will be to camp and not overland too much. I’ll test it out but I know if I shorten it, it will not extend beyond the roof bar with risk of signal reduction. Thanks for your opinion and will take action if I’m seeing issues.

Try the weboost overland mounting bracket, it has several ways to mount and folds down easy with a button. I have one and it's pretty solid, just have to remember to fold it down at the car wash LOL

I reduced the height and rewired the antenna. Too high but it is just at roof height using the Hammer Built mount. It shouldn’t be at risk while driving at speed but may compromise its reception.

I added a folding antenna mount from Amazon, I ran the antenna wire up the C pillar of the roll bar and then down the rain gutter and out between the panel. I mounted it to the side of the bar so it can fit in an 8ft garage. Folding antenna mount

I don’t have a roof rack yet and the Raptor tailgate hinge bolts are closer together than other Broncos. I had a local shop help fabricate a mount that wouldn’t interfere with the tail light. American Adventure Lab has a great molle panel that was quick to install in the rear cargo area for the booster itself. Excited to see how much the WeBoost helps in Big Bend next week.
