have to try that cigarette lighter trick, but i'm thinking use something that dont use power all the time like the night light. get one of those cigarette lighter phone charger plugs, it just has two usb ports on it to plug a phone cord into. the start/stop feature is a total joke anyway it improves your mileage by some super small amount like 1/10 of a gallon.

So many people saying “you can’t spare a second to hit one button”. For me it’s not about the time spent pushing a button.

It’s because the few times I forget to push the button I don’t realize it the damn thing is still active until right when the red light turns green. Now it’s my turn to go and my dumb auto shutoff engaged and I’m the asshole sitting at a green light not moving. Damn you auto shut-off!

I swear that sometimes auto shutoff is programmed to pick the worst time to go off when you’re stopped at a controlled intersection. I don’t mind the technology if I’m at a drivethru though.

I understand that Forscan can address this, but I personally don't want to learn how Forscan works. I just want to plug it in and forget about it. To each there own.

Fair enough. I value my time and like tinkering. There isn't much to "figure out" with Forscan. I would argue it probably takes less time to figure out than it would to install the $99 wiring harness.

I would check with your dealer if this is a big deal. Ford is currently crediting some customers $50 for the auto start/stop delete when ordering.

Can you share more info about this? first time I hear about that is with your post.

found the youtube video someone mentioned here, just disconnect one wire under the dash, 2 second fix. it disconnects the trailer hitch brake lights, and kills start/stop

What's the big deal in making it a routine to turn on the vehicle and then push a button? It's not all that hard. I don't see why spending money on this is worth it when it can come with headaches like a potential check engine light or worse, imagine forgetting to remove it prior to bringing it to the dealership and them giving you warranty repair problems.

I mean you just gotta use your imagination. It's pure convenience

I could pick any example out of a hat that sounds like yours where ppl will pay for convenience

The door mounted keypad for instance. I can easily say "what's so hard about keeping your keyfob on you?"
But there are clear uses for the keypad that create convenience for consumers. So they buy it

Like I said, potential lights on the dashboard or your dealer catching you modifying the start/stop system and voiding some type of warranty repair. Just taking your door off while driving is a safety risk but the Bronco's modularity encourages it.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that this relatively cheap "hack" exists. I'm not planning to buy it, I'm just here to fight back against this forums creeping antagonistic reputation
