1040 has the indexing slot on the wrong side. The 31067 series have 3 variations. Looks like the B variation is the correct one.

Nexus has been my go to for a lot of cons and pins. Was hoping but like you said, wrong index.

if the main problem with 31067-1041 on mouser.com is the lead time, you can buy the 31067-1071. The only difference (that I see) is that 1071 has extra molded section on the side for attachment, but that should be irrelevant for test fitting (or using, for that matter). They say they have 7665 of the 1071 in stock.

My eyes suck as you can tell by my crappy pics but I looked for Mfg name and found no markings

also they look like three pin but the female side is two pin on the speaker

Looking at the speaker ends...you could probably snip the connector off the speaker and solder the speaker wire to those ends. Might be janky depending on how you do it.

Are we in agreement that 31067-1071 appears to be the correct male mate and 2-1418158-5 is the correct male terminal? I've got an account with mouser and just ordered some other stuff from them two days ago so I'm game to get some of these in for comparison sake.

I couldn't find the 4 pin white male mat that attaches to the kick panel speaker but 99% sure it's Yazaki. If anyone wants to work on that one we would about have the adapter problem whipped.

Strangely, the "customer also bought" section for 1041 and 1071 have different pins. 1041 shows 1-1419158-6, whereas 1071 shows 2-1418158-5. The first page (the relevant page) of the datasheet are identical for the 2 part numbers. So I imagine either should work.

As far as the 4 pin connector, Metra 72-5602 has been mentioned, and I believe at least one forum member is already using it. The unknown is/was how the 6.5" and the 4" on the Bronco are wired, and whether the wires on the 72-5602 (in parallel) needs to be modified.

That's it! Funny it has the Yazaki triangle on the harness side which may have put me on the wrong rabbit trail.

Sorry, I mean whether the 4" and the 6.5" are wired in series or in parallel. The wiring diagram shows the wiring with relation to the connector only, I don't think it shows how they are wired internally on the 6.5" speaker

I just cut off the gray connectors, soldered on the speaker wires that came with the aftermarket speakers, and clipped them onto the new speakers. Easy peasy.

That is certainly one way to do it.

Flip and I are trying to work out a plug-n-play solutions that would work for 90% of the folks who wants to do this upgrade. If we can hash out the correct connector and polarity (and maybe put together a kit), then folks won't have to worry about determining the polarity and soldering. It turns this project from a skill level of 4 down to a 2, not to mention being 100% reversible. I think there's tremendous value in those pros.
