Hey guys, I'm alive and well. I taught our band camp last week, 14 hours a day Mon-Fri. I was quite busy.

A blacked out Transit didn't abduct me in the middle of the night or anything.

Things are not great. Commodity issues far beyond the MIC tops have exploded, the chip shortage has finally reached the Bronco supply chain, and nobody really has any good answers at this point. As bad as the issues have been up to this point, this is worse.

Things are so fluid and changing so quickly, by the time I get scraps of new info it's quite likely outdated. If there's one little glimmer of good news, it may just be that the planned volume and availability of the dealer stock 4 door soft top units is quickly trending downward. After all, you can't build the "less desirable" units if you can't build anything at all.

Edit to add: My inbox is crammed with a metric ton of unread messages. If you're waiting on a reply, I'll try to get thru those in the next few days.
glad to see you are only a victim of a healthy social life and haven’t been given the Stig/Legend treatment.

my question to you would be regarding 2022 and the potentially discontinued 2021 colors of which there are bound to be some. With so few actual 2021‘s getting out of MAP are there any muttering about keeping them around? I hate the idea of no blue, 1 red and seemingly only grey scale having choices.

Maybe if Ford would stop building dealer stock there wouldn't be a shortage on parts.
A dealer in my area has a 4 door soft top and said he is getting another one real soon. Plus he can sell both of them in 5 months from now. Most of us won't have ours then so people with reservations will be left in the dark while general population can go buy them.
That's just wrong to me.

I just want my built Bronco out of purgatory, or to know why it’s been there since June 29th. I think I’m just going to forget I even ordered a Bronco in hopes that when it shows up next year I’ll be surprised and feel good about the investment I’m making.

@PREMiERdrum Any info on the Disappearing ETA Delivery info us #BadBatch Broncos saw a couple weeks ago? Was that a date that means anything or was it an error of some kind we should ignore?

Months of aggravation, moved deadlines and likely a year or two off your life due to stress.
Haha. I just wonder if they will need to reissue VINs if they have to bump people who already have VINs to 2022 models. Wouldn’t that require a new VIN?

What a mess. Why schedule a build if you can’t build it? Heads should roll at Ford.

Remember the good 'ole days of Y2K....ahhh, memories...If only there were lessons to be learned back then.

The Global Impact of Y2K Must Be Dealt With

First, set up a Y2K team, including management and technicians, to minimize Y2K causes and effects.

Second, develop an understanding of the problem, primarily found in legacy programs and embedded chips.

Third, devise a Y2K contingency plan with prevention as a priority. Evaluate your company's global vulnerability, including suppliers worldwide. Review insurance to verify coverage. Consult with legal advisers on ways to anticipate and arbitrate issues that may arise from Y2K.

Fourth, implement and test solutions and encourage your global network to do the same.

Fifth, keep customers informed to ensure they have accurate and current information.
I worked NYE weekend 1999/2000.

That sucks to hear about how Bronco production is about to go to almost nill. But that’s life. Glad you’re back and not black listed by Ford.

Fist bump of solidarity. I've been in tech that long, and I missed out on the biggest party ever for a non-event driven by fear mongering
Perhaps it was a non-event precisely because so much effort was put into fixing the problem before 1/1/2000? 🤔

This thread is expanding exponentially, and theres no way to catch up, so not sure if this has been asked/answered:

@PREMiERdrum Any news regarding the 2-door Broncos, either in regards to MIC issues experienced with the 4-door tops? Or if 2-door builds will be expedited since there are so much fewer, in relation to the 4-doors? Or if Ford is potentially planning on pushing all 2-door builds to MY22?

Q&A

In all honesty, FE reservation holders are the only ones who should feel super confident about much of anything at this point.

You're good.

To my knowledge, none of the purgatory holds are waiting on chips. MAP hasn't built any Broncos without chips awaiting further installation as other Ford plants have. I've heard of some proposals but nothing that's started yet.

No, emphatically. Hasn't happened, isn't happening, won't happen.
well mine was supposedly built 8/5 and dealer confirmed. He did say something odd ‘No notification that yours is awaiting any microchips’. So I assume I’m in MIC holding area. Welcome back! We’ve missed you! We were worried you’d been silenced. 😉

It was only a non event because of the planning that went into place. We did have to change/update several critical business systems or they would have broke. I spent a good chunk of the 2000s in the financial sector, it was a real issue that went on for some time.
