Ford may not need to buy Webasto SE USA? If the loss of revenue and breach of contract damages keep piling up? The damages may amount to Ford at least assume controlling interest? Then Ford can make the necessary changes to put out a quality product without having to start from scratch with another supplier. Of course we don't know the details of Ford's contract with Webasto. I.E. Required number of units delivered, deadlines, etc. It shouldn't be too difficult to turn these problems around and start cranking out quality MIC tops. It ain't Rocket Science! 😎
It’s been discussed that Ford has already sent salaried staff, engineers, and idled production workers to Plymouth to work out Webasto’s issues. That’s pretty close to assuming control. We’ve also heard that they are in discussions with other suppliers about opening another plant for hard tops. That might be worthwhile if the Webasto fiasco is not salvageable. I never understood the webasto decision. It seems Jeep might have been on to something by picking a boat company to make a composite fiberglass plastic roof.

Absolutely. Writing up and email as we speak and following up on the phone in the morning.
Please keep us informed....maybe with a new post. This post got so long so fast....we won't see your followup. Thanks and hope it turns out well for you.

For all those who bagged on the OP for applying wax, I’m genuinely curious as to how applying said wax to a solid would cause the “inner” layers to reveal themselves, is it some type of Ford sorcery to get us into soft tops that they can actually produce?

It's shitty this happened and it is shitty that there appear to be N+1 quality issues with the top. It's hard to say how widespread the problem is because sampling is skewed, but it certainly fits the reputation created by Ford and Webasto.

I won't judge Ford too harshly based on these initial problems that arise, especially with the first model year of a vehicle...I accept that and expected some hiccups. I will judge them harshly if they don't rectify the problem and address the issues that do arise.

This is worth following and paying attention to, not worth freaking out over though. I am still excited for my Bronco to arrive (hopefully) next month.

Years ago I worked at a Dodge / Honda dealer and the reps told us recalls are often issues they know about from the factory but it is cheaper to send the new parts to the dealer and have them install vs redoing the assembly line...now this was 25 years ago so not sure if it is the same but I can't help but wonder if Ford is just planning to have some kind of recall / TSB for the tops but they don't want to halt production now?

OP said you couldn’t feel the honeycomb, meaning the surface is still flat. I’m pretty sure if that was the inner layers, you’d be able to feel an indentation between each comb. It’s also interesting that it’s not the whole panel. Maybe only a spot where he was a little too heavy with the wax and where the sun was best positioned to bake it on.

Yikes, maybe waiting until a '23 white top isn't a bad idea now after all. Hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction but I'd definately be reporting it to the dealer.
