so im seeing where ford dealers have been told they cant add ADM to reservation holders in articles and threads on this forum. I think the dealer should tell you at the time the reservation is converted if they planned to add an ADM.
This infers that those who ordered in the spring are locked into 2021 MSRP pricing. Is this binding, in any real way? I don't know. Would it be a huge PR issue if thousands of people rsvp'd and ordered based on price X, and the Ford dealerships changed the price to Y? Yep. That would be a big problem for Ford, IMO.

MSRP is locked in.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price.

The price Ford suggests the dealers should charge for the bronco is not changing.

If you negotiated with your dealer a price based on MSRP, then what you’ll pay is also not changing.

The dealer is and always has been free to charge whatever they want… and if you didn’t negotiate and agree on a price based on MSRP (or some other Ford set price like Invoice), then the price you’ll pay is not locked in.

How do you agree on a price when there are not any invoices yet?
My Dealer was MSRP. Also...invoice prices were released months ago, even posted in this Group. I have a signed agreement with my Dealer on the actual purchase price, $100.00 processing fee, all accessories installed at Ford/Dealer cost and some other issues we discussed and agreed to. This issue has been discussed here and many have agreed...the time you agree on a price is when you order it! The only other area to negotiate is trade in value. Some do that when ordering or when the new vehicle comes in for delivery. It has been done this way for years. I see posts where people have ordered and have not agreed upon a price. IMO, that is dangerous and risky. So your Bronco comes in and your dealer wants $5K over MSRP....then what?!

Recently I was informed by my dealer that they were changing a policy to charge “market value” rather than MSRP. I specifically went with this dealer because they originally promised they wouldn’t up charge the bronco and would only charge MSRP. Of course they made this change and informed order holders after the deadline to change dealers. Anyone else being faced with this issue? Several legal issues come to mind with this tactic not to mention consumer protection issues.
How about this ?
Go talk to your dealer.
If you're not happy, and don't have a VIN yet, tell him to make the order a priority 99 because you want to wait for the modular top. I think that delays it until 2023. If the dealer wants his ADM, he will have to wait, or negotiate with you . Use commodity delays to your advantage !

Be nice if you could publicly ridicule these sort of practices... but you’d likely be sued if you did.
Can't lose a slander lawsuit if you are telling the truth.

I’d consider posting a factual account on social media if they don’t back down.

I hear you and it will be a PR issue, likely not a legal issue, if there is a perceived bait and switch. It is clear that Ford communicated a messages which was infered a certain way. if they price differently than that, there will be issues.

What Ford lists as MSRP is price protected for those with reservations, but ADMs are at dealer discretion. This is why you ALWAYS get the order sheet and a signature with the agreed price + ADM. Once you have that, if they try to change it, it becomes a legal matter.

If there is a SIGNED document agreeing to a price and it is NOT clearly stated on that document that the dealer can change the price at a later date, then they have to abide by the original price. This is why many dealerships give you a copy of the order, write on any ADMs on that, then have you sign. If you didn't get that, its free range.

If you do have it in writing, call an attorney. If you don't that's where making a ruckus can help - call local news for consumer protection/on-your-side to investigate if you don't have it in writing. Many dealerships will back down fast from ADMs because it practically ANNOUNCES to competing dealerships in the area what they are doing, and those other dealerships will pick off their customers by advertising locally about no ADMs and whatnot in local advertising, and may even call you to try and find ways to get you to switch to them instead.

I just had my dealer send me my invoice stating no dealer markup signed by the sales manager. Just to be safe!

Yeah, you should read the dealer code of ethics...it goes like this, anything goes!

This is a situation I expect many of us to encounter. Dealerships all over my town are nearly out of inventory. Those costs will be passed onto us, and the Bronco is a hot new commodity so they have us by the balls. I've spoken to the sales manager twice over the phone to confirm no ADM and I have an email stating there won't be an upcharge, but I'm still 100% anticipating some funny business.

My dad has been a customer of Tomball Ford for years, and when he went to order a new Raptor they quoted him MSRP like they had in the past. They called a few weeks later and told him there would be a $10k upcharge. He protested and mentioned he had been a loyal customer for years, but they wouldn't budge and didn't seem to care. Y'all are being naĂŻve if you think this isn't going to happen to a lot of us with reservations.

I'll be walking away if this ends up being the case, strictly on principle.

At this point, it really doesn't matter if Ford holds our MSRP, because we'll be raked regardless.

All who complain are perfectly fine if its your business doing the same.
Supply and demand.
No different than hotels charging weekend rate or event rates. No different than gas prices going up because of assumed demand with an approaching storm. No different than existing home prices going up.
Supply and demand.
BTW, don't forget, you're getting more for your trade in than you probably deserve.
