How do you agree on a price when there are not any invoices yet?
Invoice and MSRP are known quantities by now.

You can negotiate off of one of those values… either a flat dollar amount or a percentage.

That way if you modify the order you don’t have to renegotiate.

I don’t have a signed sales agreement, but I do have written correspondence back and forth agreeing to the price.

You don’t need a multi page legalese document that both parties signed with a fountain pen to have a “contract” which can be enforced.

Ok, I have on paper a order summery from my dealership , so I should be ok, it does contain the MSRP value of the order, thank you

I’d call Ford and advise them of the situation and ask if you could change dealerships. It might work.

Remember, the “S” in “MSRP” stands for “suggested.”

Do you have anything in writing (even an email or text you can screen capture) where to agree on what you’ll pay?

That’s the minimum you should have… but a pretty low bar. Another person in this thread pointed out how they basically tricked their salesperson to agreeing to the price in writing.

Wont Keep a shady dealer from attempting something, but can be enough to get them to stop when they realize the fight won’t be worth it.

Recently I was informed by my dealer that they were changing a policy to charge “market value” rather than MSRP. I specifically went with this dealer because they originally promised they wouldn’t up charge the bronco and would only charge MSRP. Of course they made this change and informed order holders after the deadline to change dealers. Anyone else being faced with this issue? Several legal issues come to mind with this tactic not to mention consumer protection issues.
I would take it up with Ford Corporate, if nothing happens then smoke the dealership on the internet, there are too many dealerships whom are not over charging, because they know the money is in the aftermarket...they can see thru the fog, some dealers are starving and about to lose their business..which means employees, which means tax revenue, etc..its a big tangled mess atm. so, 10 above is not ridiculous, I don't like it, but I am using today's scenario.

wait to see what the price jump is on a 22..I bet its north of 5k..on some models. . so, there is that. didn't the Vette jump 17k in one model year? after it was released.. just sayin..

Are there really that many people out there that don't understand the basic, written, sales contract, when ordering a car?

I've never ordered without one.

Answer: That is correct @North7, knowledge of the basics of car buying really isn't common knowledge, the secrets are still locked away at Area 51.

DISCLAIMER: This is not to ridicule the OP, it is a general comment on the entire forum as we keep seeing new peple post things like this.

There are a 1,000 articles out there to read, to educate yourself, on the car buying process.

I hear you. Devil's advocate, some people might have thought they could negotiate price when the vehicle arrived, as leverage against the dealer, so they didn't want an agreement at the time of order. I am not one of those people, but the vehicle market in Jan was much different than it is today.

When I placed the order, I wanted to know the exact amount I would be paying, which I did prior to paying my deposit. Others, maybe they were more optimistic that they could get a better deal?

Either way, I agree with your stance.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I think Ford reduced the penalties for dealerships if they don’t have the conversion %. I can remember seeing if they don’t sell the bronco to the Res holder they lose some allocation. If so any chance of negotiating is out the window.

Unleash the internet!

and also Mike Levine, he doesn’t stand for These shenanigans.
I was about to suggest DM Mike Levine on Twitter. Every so often you see someone share a ridiculous mark up on a Mach-E (which is prohibited by Ford) and he does get involved. No such prohibition on the Bronco, but he is protective of the brand.

I get they want to get the Mach E out there, but why not the same price protections for the bronco. Especially with how res holders been dick around for a year. A lot of us have been extremely patient with Ford. I have a feeling I’m going to be seeing a lot of posts about dealers pulling the old switcharoo when people go to pick up their Broncos.

I would make sure that if you’re expecting to pay MSRP they’ve agreed to that.

They may be operating under the assumption that they will be charging ADM and they will be negotiating how much of it when you go to pick up your bronco.

All negotiations on a retail custom order should be concluded at time of order. Otherwise you the customer has no leverage. (In other words, it’s in the dealer’s best interest to leave the final price up in the air until your dream bronco is out front and your butt is in the salespersons chair)

Another point some seem unaware of, you are not buying your car from Ford, you are buying the car from a dealer, an independent business that buys from Ford and then sells to you, at a price they determine, under or over MSRP, it is completely up to the individual dealer.

I talked to them last week and they are sticking to there guns with the price on my order summery which was MSRP.tried to talk them into doing invoice but they won’t , they say it’s because of supply and demand , I keep saying but I’m a returning customer and I need to buy a truck, they don’t care . All we can do is MSRP. . Ughhh

Forget all this lawyer talk and whatnot... I don't see a lawyer doing much other than costing you more money. It's one vehicle. Even if it's 10 vehicles it doesn't matter. That's the problem with this country, someone stubs a toe, let's call a lawyer. 😞

I'll give you 3 options.
1. BBB - Albeit BBB is typically the slow route, but can be effective. I've received a few good results over BBB complaints.
2. Google Reviews - No one likes to be smeared locally. Not even assholes. Though the assholes will fire back. If you take the advice of some others so far, find out if anyone else from the forum is at that dealer. Strength in numbers.
3. Drive down there and kick his ass! You may not get the Bronco you want, you may end up in jail. But man that will feel good, don't ya think? 🤷‍♂️
