Ok, it’s no big deal to do that, so I wouldn’t say “no one”. That’s like saying no one would ride a motorcycle for 4 hours on the freeway.... Have done it on the way to the beach and it’s fun and a cool way to travel. But if it’s not your thing and you’re driving 4 hours there and 4 hours back and don’t have a hotel room or room in the back to put them, then I guess you’re SOL or you hide them somewhere. Best option is leaving them home and enjoying the open air drive...

ok ok....let me qualify my statement. Sorry I thought it was obvious I was using a figure of speech.
MYSELF & MY FAMILY..... Don't like driving back from camping in the dark in traffic - with no doors....It makes my French fries cold....

Hoping that the hole is a large enough diameter. I like this idea more than passing a chain / cable through the inside door handles. Because the interior door cards probably pop off with a butter knife...

Why can’t you chain/cable them to a tree? Unless of course there are no trees where you are at.

There is nothing to route the chain/cable through (no frame).

I'd not worry about it. All you need is two wrenches to break just about any padlock, someone wants to steal your doors while you're off wheeling, they will steal your doors. Put them in a tent or behind a bush or under a tarp if concerned, but might as well try to lock down the entire campsite. Impossible.

Is door stealing a thing with Jeeps? Or is middle of nowhere campsite theft really a thing? There might always be some asshole stealing your stuff, but people leave all kinds of stuff out in the open while camping and I have rarely heard of any theft happening.

If some jerk is out and about to steal stuff from campers, they probably have a battery powered angle grinder with them too.

Have good insurance I guess, other than that go out and have fun.

Ok... so how about a lock that goes on the door similar to how a lock does on a steering wheel (capturing the outside instead from the inside) that can be folded up when not in use. Then you could you could chain that to the tree. Or maybe a simple cable system like is used on electronics packages at retail stores... either way should be really easy to make. Where there’s a will !!!

I lock my bikes too (and my car and my house) but locks really only keep decent people from slipping on an opportunity. I just can't really imagine a scenario of someone wheeling around in the wilderness looking for Bronco doors, probably a lot easier to just find them on a mall crawler in town and nobody will pay any attention to somebody taking "their" doors off somewhere.

I'm sure you can run some kind of cable through the bolt holes on the hinges, but really would not worry about it. If you happen to be hit by the elusive off road door thief, insurance should take care of it I'd think? Though I don't know if our car insurance would apply to doors left leaning on a tree, so there's that.

I'd just hide them a bit, if you got the bags for them you can pile some branches on or just toss some dirt over to make them not quite as obvious.

I will however put some hot glue or silicone or something on the little latches for the fenders, they come off a bit too easy for my taste. And I'll never take them off unless I damage one, so I'll just make it a bit harder to do.
