My son's vehicle was unavailable so he barrowed my F250 6.2 liter for a three month work assignment in North Carolina. While there the truck became due for an oil change, he took it to the local Valvoline quick lube.. I always do my own work, but figured any oil change was better than none.

So the truck was due for a change again so I did an oil change today...interesting.

The NC Valvoline guys cross threaded the plug, had a hell of a time getting it out. They had put silicone on it to seal it up. I bought a new plug and put some permatex on it, it seems to be OK, we'll see.

Then they put the wrong oil filter on it, it was TINY, fortunately the gasket barely was large enough diameter to seal so it didn't leak.

So I was prepared write a strongly worded letter and maybe sue the local NC Valvoline guy and Valvoline Corporate for parts labor, internal engine damage, pain and suffering and mental anguish. But I looked it up and this is the filter Valvoline shows for the 6.2L pick up and 6.8 L V-10 motorhome...They have to be CRAZY!!

I change my own oil or at minimum, I go to local walmart, buy what I WANT and have them change it with my oil and filter. However if life was peaches and cream? Amsoil 100% ALWAYS. Nothing better....

THats pretty insane that small a filter and then having to deal with crossthreaded plug. I feel for ya.

Sometimes the line between negligence and fraud is distinct. Putting the wrong filter on a vehicle because it will seal is not mere negligence to me, but it's your call...

HA! You ain't kidding! Needed a fast change as I was leaving town, ran through the Oilstop and they changed it, as I was pulling out of the bay my oil pressure light came on, stopped and got out, oil all over the ground. Seems he used the wrong filter and under pressure it blew off  I normally change my own, and will from now on.

I like to change my own oil after a cross threading incident on the drain plug.
It also gives me a chance to look around for any issues that may have been unnoticed

Yes, that was my initial thought. In doing research I found that tiny filter is the one Valvoline specs for all Fords with that size filter (PH or XG 2 in Fram terms), it is no way equivalent to the Fram or Motorcraft 820S(They spec it on many many other makes and models VO-88 BTW). So the guy did what Valvoline specs it's just stupid. I will contact Valvoline Corporate with my displeasure. Now the cross threading and coverup was the techs fault.
