I hesitated to show my picture of the filter I used and won't say what brand of oil I use because I know that no matter what my preference is I would ignite a firestorm of debate on the forum. I am old, have owned dozens of vehicles, have used the same brand of filter and oil for all those decades and on all those dozens of vehicles and have not suffered any internal engine issues on any vehicle I purchased that had less than 100K miles on it when I got it.

One thing I was happy to see is the 2.7L, with the oil filter on the top of the engine, will be a piece of cake to change the oil. However, until I run out of Fordpass points I'll let the dealer change it for free. :)

At one time I was using our local Jiffy Lube as they did a good job at changing the oil. I just got tired of them coming in every time wanting me to let them replace this, or that at twice the price.

I do it myself or have the dealer do it. A friends son used a quicky place and the oil leaked out, kid didn't notice the light and trashed the motor. They did pay but what a hassle, its seems to be high school kids working these places

I usually change the oil in all of my vehicles after the warranty expires. One time my daughters Camry was due and I didn't have time so I told her to go to Walmart. Soon after I noticed it was leaking so I checked the plug and it was loose but wouldn't tighten. Those guys had ripped out almost all of the threads on the oil pan. It was just barely grabbing but wouldn't tighten. Of course they denied doing the damage. I thought I was going to have to replace the oil pan or install a helicoil until I found a magnetic drain plug. It worked great! You just twist it in and it seals tight. To remove just use a pair of pliers and twist it out.
