It’s the dealers man. They have a lot of power and a ton of political power as well. Remember that direct sales of new cars is illegal in most states. Tesla has been fighting these laws for a while.I hear what you are saying....but who is at fault for all this systemic ignorance????
The 'dealer' is ostensibly acting as an agent of Ford Motor Company. Does Ford have absolutely no standards about who carries their banner in the field? If Ford wasn't verging on flat broke they could arrange for mystery shoppers to identify dealers in need of having their ticket pulled.
I think we are too quick to blame dealers...this is Ford's party - they just don't appear to be up to the task.
So, Ford does set standards, but they can’t interfere with dealerships making money. That’s their argument at least.
Is all of this valid? Of course not, but we must all navigate this mess. The more informed we all are, the more level the playing field will be.
