Hey all — I recently upgraded from the factory 20.8 gal tank to a 30.1 gal tank on my 2025 Bronco Raptor and I'm trying to get the DTE (Distance to Empty) reading correctly instead of showing miles based on the old 20.8 gal capacity.

I know the topic came up in the last thread that got closed. Has anyone be able to get get DTE to read correctly?? I updated the IPC Fuel capacity in Forscan and that has not fixed it

i did the FK offroad tank, took a while to get to me but the tank quality appears to be top notch. Install was easy, did it in the driveway and it only took about 3 hours with lots of breaks due to the heat here in TX. With a lift or in a garage i could have had it done in 2 hours max.

no fix that anyone knows of, the programming of it is too complex supposedly.
forscan does nothing. no options in fdrs either.

Well that is not fun, i was hoping that FDRS at least had the option to update the tank value in the PCM section. hopefully someone smarter than i am can help up get this figured out

Yeah I have been following this closely. The issue is FDRS doesnt do hex like Forscan only option dropdowns hence why it works with FDRS since F150s have a 36 gal tank option as some has stated. Its going to take someone or a shop to look at maybe what the as built is on the F150 and mess with it in Forscan on the bronco.

In the meantime, while awaiting a digital solution, you may want to apply a thin strip of painter’s tape to your dashboard fuel level display and calibrate and mark it up the old-fashioned analog way.

I am VERY interested in this as well. This is the only piece holding me back from sizing up my gas tank

im seeing that the gas gauge is working correctly, just the DTE calculation is just using the old tank size to calculate.

i mean i've found it pretty consistent with the amount of fuel i have left when i fill up at 25-35miles on dte. its been consistent.

As noted in the other closed thread, it's highly unlikely this can be fixed as the float gauge just doesn't sit the same way in the new tank. I believe both the full side and low side (DTE) are BOTH off quite a bit.

The float is fixed on the fuel pump assembly, and it has a finite range of motion, and so far looks to be accurate with consumption. Fuel light comes on gauge does not fall abnormally. The issue that im seeing is that while ford has a tank size setting in forscan under the IPC module it is disregarding this setting and looks to be pulling the data from some stored value in the BCM.

im not looking to get an exact mile for mile accounting just a ROM of miles to empty.

Right, but the tank is taller, thus the noted inaccuracy at both full and DTE. It's actually inaccurate along the full range, but it has a range where it is moving at a somewhat normal rate (that too though is technically off).

Im not arguing that the tank is taller, but this is not a new problem with the Bronco. i installed a 55 gallon in f350, that tank was taller, longer and wider. the DTE is still representative, in the f350 if i get 10mpg with a 55 gallon tank i should have ~550 miles at the upper most range of the float, and when the float reads 1/2 then i should have ~275 miles. now at the extreme ends of the thow there will be variations and i can live with as all things DTE it is approximate
