Was able to attend a couple days of the Cal4Wheel Death Valley Experience this year. Didn’t do any of the hard rated trails this year but looking forward to doing those next year. It was hotter than hell out there (during the March heatwave here in SoCal) so it was 100+ everyday. Stovepipe Wells was the base of operations. Also my first runs with my new Bilstein 6112s and Icon Delta Joint Pro UCAs.

Day 1 of trails was around the Chloride Cliffs/Chloride City ending in Beaty to refuel.

Day 2 was 250+ miles going to the southern part, out east, up to Stateline and coming back.

I had never been to Death Valley before and there was truly nothing like it. Can’t wait for next year’s event and if you’re in California, highly recommend being a part of Cal4Wheel and going to these awesome events.

(Photos unfortunately aren’t in order by day)

Looks like a great trip! I assume 250+ miles in a day wasn't crawling or anything, just desert running. The sights look pretty amazing.

Death Valley was the first place I went to a month after getting my Bronco. Never knew I was going to enjoy desert camping so much. I got to see everything on my list except for Racetrack Playa since it's not recommended to go solo. Was any of the park still closed due to flooding/washout?

Correct! Nothing even remotely hard at all. But got to see a lot of awesome things that day!

Everything was open sans one of the “entrances” to the park

Sans is a preposition borrowed from French that means "without" or "lacking". While considered a bit literary or archaic, it is used in casual English for stylistic flair or humor. [1, 2, 3]

Usage & Examples
  • Everyday/Humorous: "We’re enjoying a relaxing weekend, sans children."
  • Common Compound Terms:
    • Sans-serif: The most common usage; refers to a typeface or font without the small decorative lines (serifs) at the ends of the letters.
    • Sans-culottes: Literally "without breeches"; a term for lower-class citizens during the French Revolution. [1, 2, 3]
    • Pop Culture: Sans is the name of a popular, wisecracking skeleton character in the video game Undertale. [1]

Seeing as humor is mentioned once more than nothing ( 🤨 ), I declare myself right for all eternity and thus the Emperor of Bronco6g. 👑 👋

Death Valley is an absolutely huge place. No a place to go alone. We were there in 2023. Stovepipe Wells, Beehive kilns, Ballarat Ghost Town, Goler Wash to Barker Ranch (where they arrested the Manson Family), over Mengel Pass, out Warms Springs Canyon Road and then West side Road. A long very bumpy day. Also visited Badwater Basin, Devil’s Golf Course and Furnace Creek, etc.
