Yes, unlike my sports car and last 9 cars and trucks, 6G Broncos required learning a new and very odd muscle memory of reaching over the left knee, and underneath the light switch.
It's so much easier when the same hand for pushing the stick can find the switch at the center console -- or even better, if the "switch" is an actual brake lever!!
Try owning 3 Fords. The parking brake and ASS are all different. I have muscle memory, but sometimes reach for wrong button/wrong car.

If you open the door prior to turning it off, will it set the parking brake? I don’t have a manual, but I know the 10R will do something similar if you open the door still in gear IIRC
In your suggested situation, I can confirm Bronco MTs will not automatically set the parking brake.

I have a sloped driveway and this morning, I tested this. Then I remembered I already knew this was true from one of my first off-roading days. I needed to get out and inspect the trail, but I still was not familiar with the parking brake location and I missed it entirely. Thankfully, I quickly got my foot on the brake pedal before I rolled backward into a nasty spot. That day, I looked very much like the amateur that I was (and probably still am).

I don't want the brake to set automatically, I want the switch relocated to an easier access spot. @Area51BS has already posted how annoying this gets going from one vehicle to another.

I notice now I reach for the window buttons for whatever vehicle I'm in on the center console automatically... unless in the old Bronco - then it's the window crank knob.
