After 6 long years since first seeing a 6th gen, and Feb. 20, 2026 was the day I finally got mine. Without getting too into the personal stuff, in spring of 2021 I ran away from a really bad family situation at the age of 20 (raised in Pennsylvania). Moved in with some people I escaped with in metro Detroit and saw my first 6th gen bronco only about a week later; EG 2dr with black steelies. It left a pretty big impression on me and convinced me to get one over a Maverick tremor (assuming a perfect world where I actually had money). Worked a restaurant job in Roseville until I gave up on the situation there and ran away AGAIN to Alabama in early 2023; this time to actually try to work on cars. Worked a terrible series of positions in Autozone before finally getting my chance at working for a Ford dealer. Worked my way up, took classes, and duked it out with the wages there barely being enough for rent until I got word my father had five surgeries. Siblings and I all moved back in with him to help out, and I transferred to a dealer not too far away from his house.

Fast forward to Oct. 2026 and I get the most amazing girlfriend right as I'm about to finally order my bronco, so money was going to be very tight . I wanted a Heritage 2dr manual or basesquatch but those ended in '24. I saw the A-pillar grab handles on the press release of the '26 60th anniversary and was sold. Went into sales and found out happily that the sales manager was a huge bronco nerd and misses his 2dr BD SAS. I gave them three build links for the builder website:
- Base SAS 2dr 7MT + SAS Graphics
- Badlands Non-SAS 2dr LUX 7MT
- Badlands SAS 2dr standard pkg 7MT + HOSS 3.0 + SAS Graphics
All three options had a MOD Black Top spec'd and were in Ruby Red. MY26 color options were poor but the gf and I love black + red, and also Ruby Red is a Heritage color along with Wimbledon White. I was asked if I planned on really offroading it (sad that sort of thing has to be asked when you think about it in the context of a bronco). They talked me into the third/final option when they realized how hard the "yes" was. Order number was D001; thought that was mighty interesting!

The months following were some of the best of my life, with the only better bits being right now. I've browsed on here since ~2022 and the friends I've made along the way both on here and because of my job are amazing and the gearheads here in the U.S.. On Valentine's day, both a toy bronco and my 2026 arrived. The gf had to grab my arm because at the time I was actually just shy of my down-payment and I was absolutely terrified to even look at it 😅. There it was though, 6 years of dreaming, working, saving, and it was finally here. I asked sales to wait a week and they agreed but made sure to park the darn thing right in front of my beater's parking spot. Took delivery as said earlier on Feb. 20, 2026. Night was foggy as all get-out so I took the backroads home at 30mph with nothing but the fogs on with great success. I'll make a build/rig thread to document my alterations--the end-goal is going to be the crossplane I4 modification I made a thread about years ago or some other weird nonsense under the hood once the as-built quits, and generally have a baja-ready rig that can tackle some basic camping. Only planning overlanding with a travel trailer, as 2drs have pretty low fuel capacity. So far the only mod's been broflaps (the new long-size for SAS, premium blackline version w/ rain channels) so I don't eat rocks these goodyears love kicking up.

Thank you to everyone on here for making this the coolest community I've seen. Good opportunities and found-family came from my lowest points, and this place was here every step of the way. Started browsing this site freshly at 21 not knowing much about cars other than anatomy and now I'm making decent headway towards the dream of working with Ford Racing before turning 25.
