While routing wiring for a rear “dash cam” I had to remove some roll bar covers. While in the passenger side rear door area I found 2 nuts ready to fall off their respective bolts! The bolts seemed unnecessarily long? They were about 6mm.

I spun/torqued the nuts up tight and replaced the plastic cover. I had lost my presence of mind and didn’t determine their function, anyone know what would have happened if I hadn’t fixed the factory error?

Trying to picture exactly where this is but keep getting crosseyed by all the pretty plants

I ~think~ they just hold on the trac along the top that the removable top weatherstripping mates against.

If they had come off entirely they would rattle around, the trac may rattle, but it has other bolts. Maybe an issue if you were to go topless and lost enough nuts

I’m confused. Looking up and out passenger window? What top is that? Looks like it is metal, not some MIC.

The RR door is open and out of view. The pic is looking through the upper door jamb/roll bar. The chocolate mousse-colored piece is the roll bar. My hard top is out of view above the pic. The black rubber bit is the door gasket. The dangling airbag surround assembly is bending the door gasket downward. Hope this helps visualization.

Same issue on my 2024 Wildtrak. I was chasing down some squeaks and discovered two loose nuts on each side underneath the rear door weatherstripping. Lord knows why they aren't being tightened at the factory.

Had a squeak in the same area in MY23 Bronco. Could be the same nut locations on all 3 vehicles. Perhaps it’s another Bronco ‘Easter Egg’ out there for everyone to find. 🙃There were small witness marks on the roll bar paint for both (look closely at pic). Maybe finger tightened originally and later vibrated down. Bronco was about 6 mo old when fail was discovered. I previously found some other bits completely missing! Tape falling off harness, etc.

It’s a real Bronco. Look the fine print at the bottom of the post for details. But I would expect similar quality issues with the baby Broncos.

They actually have a lot better finish and fewer QC issues.
