OEM Ford Bronco Full Display rearview mirror, option?

It's a new option Ford added for Job 2 last month.

According to my dealer, it's basically a digital rear-view mirror to effectively help you see over the 37" tire on the Raptor. I think @FordVideoGuy said the same thing on one of his live streams, so it I'm guessing that's what Ford communicated to dealers.

Haven't actually seen one or even seen a picture of one though.

I have spied a digital mirror in a couple of GMC Trucks and a Cadillac Escalade. They will probably take a while to get used to, but even from a distance, I can tell they give a great wide angle view. This will likely be a popular update.

Ford is late on releasing the marketing info on this.

It uses the 360-view camera system (why only available on LUX option) to live stream the rear camera full time on the windshield's rear view mirror. The mirror is supposed to be slightly larger, but in which dimensions, (wider, taller, both??) I don't know yet. Similar to many aftermarket mirrors that do the same thing. Doubt there will be recording ability that some aftermarket makers offer. Supposedly will continue to change to 'backing up indicators' when in reverse. You will loose the 360 camera view, in case you thought it would help get a wider view with a trailer.

Ugh... another screen with backlight to deal with while driving at night. This is exactly the reason the Wolfbox g900 that's popular around here isn't on my list (which also looks to be an aftermarket-style replacement if you opt with the rear camera)

This is from a FB group not mine. I’m def jealous of this setup and for the price is a no brainer. I wonder what it would take to retrofit it but I’m sure it would come at quite the cost.

It makes everything behind you appear as if it was in front of you.

It takes the legal gray area out of accidently-on-purposely ramming the Prius who takes 37 minutes to figure out the green light indicates they are allowed to move forward.

You guys say you want this but aren't realizing what you have to deal with as well. I installed the Wolfbox G900 pro a couple months ago. The wide angle view is awesome, helps big time with blind spots. The downside (which I'm sure the Ford one has as well) is, when it rains, water sits on the camera (road spray, rain, whatever) making it unusable. Driving in the dark, big time halo/glare from headlights, making it near impossible to gage distance behind you, even worse if camera is wet.

On the flip side, I love my Wolfbox, have camera installed behind my spare and looking at ways to deflect water (road spray) away from it. No more blind spots. Currently have a '21 with a soft top (can't see out rear window due to fine scratches) with the JBL soundbar, so my rear view was very limited to begin with. For what mine does, I'll gladly trade off the 2 issues that come with these digital rearview mirrors. They are in no way perfect, and I imagine Ford's version won't be anything better, even at twice the price of the aftermarket versions.

No offense but that is why I’m holding out for the oem setup. I have a factory camera in another car and I have no complaints.
The visibility out the back of the bronco is way worse so the trade off is better.
I am hoping tiny nuances in camera placement and pitch etc can solve a lot regarding glare and droplets

Placement does help, I first had camera just below 3rd brake light, then moved inside spare. Yes I do angle the lens down slightly to help. In this day and age of super bright OEM headlights, you don't have much to get around it.

The glare is certainly manageable though. And makes it a lot easier to merge onto a highway than just using the side view mirrors. My biggest complaint in water on the camera. That's on my list of figuring out some sort of shield to stop the road spray. I am curious to see how this works in the winter with snow and whatnot, assuming NJ actually gets some this year.

I mounted my Wolfbox rear camera on the back of my rollbar. Sees out the back window, avoids the water issue, and is always there, even if I take the top off. This solution works for me, though I primarily use my Wolfbox as a dashcam, and generally leave the screen function turned off.
